Saban didn't come.

Briles turned us down.

And I am really sorry we didn't get either of them, or several others, instead of Strong.

You just can't believe "sources" that are unconfirmed because so many are biased or pushing an agenda. No one on any of these board is going to be right all the time.

Frankly, I thought Saban would get his raise and stay at Alabama where he has a better chance at more championships as opposed to rebuilding another program at his age. Briles, well, I had my own really good sources there and even they were split on whether he would take the Texas job. My gut told me he was going to ride it out in Wacko, where he is set and doesn't have to endure all the BS that goes with the Texas job, and retire to Horseshoe Bay pretty soon since he is the same age I am.

So, I really didn't know anything "for sure" and I was obviously wrong for believing they would go get a proven, safe, big name, splash hire. Patterson is either on gutsy SOB or dumber than a stump. We shall see soon enough. I wish him and CS all the best. Hope they find some good recruiters and bring back some of our own, too.

Patterson seems to have stuck his neck way out with this hire! He could have a short tenure by the looks of this.
