Class of 2015 Plano West power forward DJ Hogg (6-8, 215) committed to Texas A&M today.  Hogg held an offer from UT and is a top 30 player nationally and top 5 player in the state.

Hogg held offers from Arizona, UCLA, Oklahoma State, Baylor, Iowa, TCU and SMU among others.

so many beautiful and glorious events just keep on happening to aTm lately.  this is truly the decade of lassie.

Yeah was about ready to post that.

Another one bites the dust in terms of in-state basketball recruiting. Jawun Evans might commit but I think he is Illini bound. Kerwin Roach is going to likely be the only Texas recruit to commit to the Horns in the 2015 class. Rick Barnes isn't afraid to go out of state. Eric Davis or likely some other recruit no one has heard from yet.

But IMO Roach has to be #1 at this point.

"The Decade of Lassie"

Based on what, exactly?  One flash-in-the-pan 2012 football season culminating in a Cotton Bowl win over OU?  Their women's hoops national title?  Their dominance in equine events?

Lol my thoughts exactly. If a cotton bowl victory and picking up a basketball recruit = "The Decade of Lassie" I'm even more glad that I'm not an Aggie.

It's going to be interesting how Texas handles recruiting this year. I personally think we only take 1 or 2 players.

The top priority is shooting guard- Texas is going to take Roach or Davis. Matter of fact if Texas can get both IMO that could be the only two players Texas takes. Both guys have handles too so they can potentially play point . With Taylor only a SO and Felix only a JR, I don't think Texas will take a PG (in addition to the possibility of Roach or Davis playing point).

Forward- Holmes is gone after this year. Based on the comments I've read about Turner's parents I think he's going to be a Longhorn for a few years. Then you add Barnett who is a FR, Cleare who will be a JR next year, Lammert who is JR, and Newsome who is a SO. I don't think we will take a forward this year.

Center- Whether we take a center IMO is really dependent on if it looks like Ridley declares. Ridley is only a JR and Ibeh is only a JR. Players like Cleare  and Turner can also play a little center.

So to break it down. Our first priority is shooting guard. I think we take Roach or Davis, possibly both. Our next priority is center, but if Ridley comes back for his senior year I don't think we take a center. I also don't think Texas is going to reach on a center this year. Unless Texas can pick up an elite center like Zimmerman, I think they wait until next year with a loaded big man class.

The other thing about Ridley is I think it's assumed that he will go pro after this year. I just don't see it unless Ridley has 1) developed a mid range offensive game and 2) learned how to defend bigs that stretch outside. The NBA is no longer a center's game. Hell, just look at this past draft. Only one center went in the first round and a couple in the second (and even Embiid has a little mid range game which is why he went in the first round). Ridley's size, rebounding, and shot blocking ability give him a chance of going late in the second round though.
