This week there was an article about DT, Daylon Mack of Gladewater, and his upcoming commitment to Texas A&M. There were a couple of factors, A&M talked to him early, but the disturbing part is he grew up a Longhorn fan and committed to the Aggies because,

I feel that if Texas A&M wouldn't have been in the SEC, then Texas would have been my top choice. Playing in the SEC is a really big deal for me and Texas can't beat that.
OK, I know it's one kid but is this going to become a trend? Kids growing up Longhorn fans and now seeing the Aggies as a better option? Talk me down here!

He didn't commit to aggie. Also, Bama just offered as well so he is supposedly going to slow things down now, per the guys at HOOKEM.com.

He's committing to aggie next week. His words to me.
Maybe so. Would/will suck. Still a looooong way Togo with the '15 kids. We'll be fine.

The SEC thing is real. How long it last who knows. But remember just a few years ago when USC was winning everything. No one cared about the SEC. Until others teams start winning national championships the trend will continue.

Bama is winning with those guys in the trenches. Their QB's, RB's and WR'ers are replaceable.

The trend will change when Texas makes it change by becoming the big dog they were a few years ago. I am not sure if Mack can make that happen..

Not to be a downer, but this is a shift in the stature of programs guys. It is a cyclical shift but nonetheless it is real. Aggy is hot right now and they are pulling the recruits to show it. The Horns need to go in and kick some tail on thew field and things will get right again. We need to nail the QB situation foirst and foremost. Too much at stake to not get it right. I don't know if it is Swoopes or Heard or Brewer or what... but it needs to get sorted out so this team knows what to build around. Ash is good but not great.

I remember what a friend of mine, who happens to be black, said of Sumlin. He told me when he was at Houston that Texas ought to go get Sumlin because he connects with black players like no coach he has seen in a long time. I argued that Mack has a lot of great black players at Texas, but he said Sumlin is not only black, but he runs a fun offense and is young enough to relate to today's recruits.

Time will tell?

Looks like Knox is/has decomitted. Does it make me a bad person when I say I honestly don't give a damn? Glad he's out of the way. f@#kin head case.

Knox is the perfect example of the "no visit" policy working. Watching the cryptic Twitter feed of Gresham and Knox yesterday, it was obvious Know was forced, by the policy, to de-commit. Now we have time to replace him, unlike this year with all the late losses. I am encouraged by the policy. We will know earlier

Expect Gresham to follow.

Read the timeline of Gresham from yesterday and the statement from this morning and I see no chance that happens. It could but it looks like Knox surprised everyone, including Gresham, Jerrod and Lorrenzo..

I think Gresham sticks as well.

Listen dudes, Gresham has an Alabama offer and likes Ole Miss too. I know he came out and said he is his own person, but how many times have we heard recruits say one thing and do another? This is a whirlwind right now in every aspect for both Texas and recruits that had a sliver of an itch to explore other schools/offers. We need to hang on to Gresham, no doubt, but I don't think this ends well for Texas. All in all, the hingepin of this class is Jerrod Heard. He is the one guy we MUST keep on board. He gets itchy and we deep-six immediately. Again, if we were winning on the field we wouldn't be talking about this right now.

Seems from the conversations I posted that Knox was recommitting and Gresham told him to tell Texas. Dude, aka Chicken Little, sees it as inevitable that Gresham will then leave as well. Like the punk that choose Agie over Longhorn, let em the F@#K go.

And I would have respected Mack if he yanked the offers immediately when the duo jetsetted up to Columbus. Knox could very well end up being a Buckeye..... Don't deliver your manifesto and then sit idle after recruits shove it in your face. If I were Mack I would yank offers IMMEDIATELY upon any of these recruits disregarding his "rules." Otherwise what good does it do? It only makes him look weak. In the end it is a stupid rule. BUT, it is already out there so you have to enforce it.

Knox had a lot of the diva qualities Benenoch did. Its not THAT big a deal guys, Texas produces a ton of talent each year.

Stars don't mean a thing, winning ballgames does.
