They took a visit to Urban Meyer and Ohio State today. Yes, after Mack mentioned it was unacceptable a few months ago. Will Mack pull their offers? As a LOnghorn fan where do you stand on this? Should he yank the offers?

My opinion? Right or wrong on Mack's rule, he must pull the schollys. The parallel to this is if you tell your woman if she screws another guy then you will leave her. If she does it and you still take her back, you are soft and can be taken advantage of.

Mack making the statement meant he was willing to play hard-ass. Time to back it up (as much as it might hurt).

Love my #Horns! #HOOKEM!

The actual statement Mack made was that if you're committed, you are committed. If you are looking around, then you aren't committed. If you look around, so will we. If we find someone to take your place, you may not have a place anymore. It's past time to start looking for replacements for these 2 boys.

Tell them it's over at Texas. Someone is going to swoop in and take them away anyway so go ahead.

I love these guys because they are from my home town of Fort Worth. I hope they don't make the mistake of playing for the urban legend.

IMO, Mack was foolish to make the rule in the first place. A kid isn't "committed" until he signs on the dotted line mid-February. I appreciate what he was trying to do, but why? If my kid is a prized recruit, I'm encouraging him to take five visits.

So a commitment is not a commitment? If you want to date other people don't get engaged, because it's not official until you are married. That's Mack point, if you are not ready to "commit" then don't commit.

I like the kids and hope they are committed but we are Texas and we should not put up with this shit. Not for anyone, no matter how good a player. Especially if they would rather play in f##king Ohio.

High school kids taking free recruiting trips is part of the process. It was wrong for Mack to do. I understand he was trying to make a point and, frankly, he was mad. But...... it ain't the real world. Again, if we win games and take care of business there will be no second guessing our recruits.

On a more serious note. This is Knox commenting on the war of words from Longhorn fans on Twitter and his response.

Certain stuff like name-calling kind of hurts. I have to restrain myself from tweeting something back to that person. Everybody feels threatened that they're going to have another big-name decommit. That's understandable. But if I was going to do it, I would've done it by now.

I understand what Mack is saying, and agree completely with beevomav. If Texas offers, and you are excited, you don't have to accept the offer on the spot. If you would like to play around and visit other colleges (even if you are 100% Texas), by all means, please do. But, please tell Mack the truth. Here is an example, "Coach, I appreciate the offer and believe me, I am very excited. I love the coaches here, the family atmosphere and the facilities. I can see myself wearing burnt orange for four years, but I want to be 100% sure before I commit to you guys. I would like to discuss this with my family. As soon as I am sure about my college future, I will be sure to let you know. Again, thank you, and Hook Em"

Mack tells the players after the offer to go home, discuss it with his parents, his coaches and to think hard on it. Typically he won't take a commit on the spot unless the parents and or coaches are in attendance on the visit.

Texas offerred early and the interest in these two has grown and will continue to grow amongst other programs. Gresham gobbled up the Texas offer with an immediate commitment. Knox took longer to commit. The good news with these two is that they are joined at the hip. These guys will play in Austin. Mack might overlook the trip to Columbus but if they start jetplaning to every school on the East and West Coast things might get a little hairier.

Nope. By definition, a recruit isn't committed until he sends in his signed LOI. Mack and his staff need to keep working until the paperwork is in. Until then, all he has is a kiss and promise. Liars Poker

Mack's new policy is intended to weed out the fence-riders, but do you really see him pulling his offer to either Knox or Gresham? Doubtful

Unless Mack is willing to follow through on his threat, it was foolish to make that statement. Toothless

Exactly, but the problem is many kids don't really know what they want. The high-pressure sell by coaches during the recruiting process puts them on the spot. A kid may tell Mack he's committed just to appease him during the face-to-face meeting.

Looks like the Butteyes haves offered Gresham now as well. This is getting interesting.

Kids are kids, however, Mack has been stressing "go home and talk to your coaches and parents and then make your decision." There is nothing wrong with holding kids to their word. Thats one of the biggest problems in society as a whole these days, there is no accountability. You can give your word and take it back, say youll do something and then never do it. Where does end? This recruiting process has turned into more of a HS to College Free Agency type of situation where kids want to be wined and dined and taken on trips then obviously choose one of the several schools they have been playing with. If more coaches had the balls to take that power out of 17-18 year old kids that type of situation would end. The circus that has become recruiting would end.

I think the NCAA should nix early commitments. The only thing it does is interfere with a kids schooling and turn him into a media hungry douche. Take whatever visits you want wherever you want and then on this date you commit and thats it. Kids have seen this process annually, they know what they are doing and what they can get out of these universities with just the verbal commitment.

If you wanna be a kid play with kids, if you wanna play with adults then you should have to deal with adult guidelines.

The Dallas Morning News nailed this:

Demetrius Knox is committed to the Texas Longhorns, but the Fort Worth All Saints guard grew up in Ohio as a OSU Buckeyes fan. So when Knox posted a photo of himself and teammate Daniel Gresham in Ohio State jerseys on Instagram, it seemed like cause for concern for Horns fans, right?

Maybe not. According to SB Nation's Wescott Eberts, the duo did in fact visit Ohio State last weekend, but Knox said he was taking the visit to see his father in Ohio and told Buckeye coaches that he was "not going there."
