Alabama vs Washington

Clemson vs Ohio St.

Who ya got?

What do you think of Penn St being left out of the mix?

Penn St should have made the cut. I am so tired of hearing how great Al is every year I sure hope they lose this year. It time for the sleeping giant Texas to start be a factor in the playoff. My friends y'all have a great week

I like the way you think, Jim.  I think Alabama wins it all, and to be honest, they are pretty stout.  UW 'may' give them some trouble depending on which UW team shows up.  They have had one let down this season and that was against USC.

IMO, Penn State should have been the Big 10 first consideration.

I can't get past the fact that Ohio State did not win their conference or their division within a conference. And they lost to Penn State head to head.

Big 12's Bowlsby is raising a stink. Round 1 was launched today. He's raising questions about strength of schedule (Washington) and conference champions (ohio st) being primary factors.

And I think Bowslby makes a very good point.

Let's not kid ourselves here. All this handwringing over the right to lose to Bama. lol

I shouldn't say that. Bama losing I suppose is not impossible.

Has anyone figured out what the "1-0" thing means that the new staff keeps tweeting?

Someone needs to explain how a team with no conference championship gets in over a team with a conference championship who also won the head to head.  I understand that Ohio St. is the better team...but how can that be if they can't win their conference and have a loss to Penn St.

I get it and at the same time I have trouble with it...

I say we need an 8 team playoff...Power 5 conf. champs get automatic bids, then the next best 3 teams.  Sort it all out on the field.

I'd like to go back to the old way. I liked the old bowl games with the UPI and AP bowls...........but that's just me. It was more exciting for many more teams and fans.

IMO, it's difficult to argue that the CFB Playoff hasn't lessened the value and impact of the bowls not in the semis and final rotation. Why the FBS can't go to a FCS type playoff is beyond me. Hell, deduct one meaningless regular season game to accommodate the expanded playoffs.

Perhaps some. But the bowl market is flooded. Way too many of them and not enough quality teams to fill them. As it is, we're actually happy to have a 6-6 team qualify for a bowl. So we have about a dozen bowls on the schedule that will absolutely put you to sleep by the 2nd quarter.

They're wearing out the viewer before the quality bowls even begin. I used to think I could watch every one of them and most years, I did. Not anymore.

Hell, there's at least that many that I won't even see the opening kickoff due to a complete lack of interest.

Heck, who am I kidding. There might be only a dozen that would NOT put me to sleep by the 2nd quarter. And I've probably overstated that number  :)

In fact, I can count on one hand how many games I will watch in their entirety. And I will have multiple fingers left over.

My rant as a follow-up to previous posts…

These conference championship games are a joke.  Well, I suppose not, when you consider they are actually played for the $$$$.

Ohio State awarded a play-off spot in spite of not being the Big 10 champion, or even playing in the Big 10 conference championship game.  The opportunity to play for the national championship is still as subjective as it was in the days of the “AP†and “UPI†polls.

Going to a conference championship game next season is going to hurt the Big 12.  In some years the #2 team which has already lost to #1 will pull the upset.  Just like Colorado did when Chris Sims imploded by throwing three (3) first half interceptions. And, like 2008 when UT beat sooners by 10 points, but sooners got the ticket to the dance.

It will be interesting to see how far bama goes…they look really impressive, but the rest of SEC…SEC…SEC…is down this year.  And, all of the SEC plays cupcakes in non-conference.

The frickin NCAA needs to figure out the seven (7) conferences and one (1) independent who are worthy of playing for the national title, and those seven (7) conference champions and one (1) independent go to the play-off.  No voting…no polls…no subjectivity, except for the independent.  You win one of these conference championships and you are in,,,,

OSU was given a “participation ribbonâ€, rather than rewarded for winning a championship.  Perhaps behind the scenes selection was made to try to get a National Championship game between Alabama and Ohio State.  I hope both lose …. I will be rooting for Washington and Clemson….  I don’t like Penn State, but they got screwed.  On the field they win what might be the strongest conference this season and get jumped by a team they beat and which didn’t even play in the conference championship game.  That is wrong…  I admit that OSU passes the eyeball test as one of the best teams.  But, their spot still should have gone to Penn State.  Real life rarely awards “do-oversâ€, so neither should sports.  So, the Bucks should be on the outside looking in…

Hopefully, the football God is equally upset and will have justice prevail with a Washington-Clemson national championship game.  Well, one can hope and pray…right?

The Big 12 better rethink the championship game bullshit…(1) who wants to see a rematch (well, maybe the guys who got beat) and (2) it is now proven a conference championship game is a joke…

i see osu and bama in the championship.  i don't think wash has the defense to stop bama for 4 quarters.  osu might.  if barrett shows up, osu has a chance to upset bama.

But, our TV partners gave us approximately $30M reasons to stage a Big 12 Championship game...

Didn't have a place to put this, but awesome Army win vs Navy today. Broke a 15 year losing streak to Navy.
