Boy those kind of losses really hurt. MB did not leave CS a team that played to gather. First CS had to start building some character and pride back into the Texas Football program.. Under MB some of the kids were allowed to get away with just about anything and the other players were not allowed the same privilege. So to have a strong tree you have to cut the bad branches off and that what CS started doing cutting the dead wood off the team and yes some of the players were very good. But you will have a better football team if everyone feels like they are all treated the same. So do you want a team of trouble makers are a team with pride that will put Texas back on top. Well I will take CS and his coaching methods and when he has us back on top it will be a solid program again. My friends y'all have a great week

I see no reason to panic. It's tough to take a loss like that, but you have to stay focused on the bigger picture.

We went into that game without two starting OL, without Daje, and on the heels of suspensions that cost us some serious talent. We went into that game with a makeshift offensive line with first time starters, a green QB, and a OC who was determined not to let a Swoopes mistake beat us.

We'll get those OL back, Daje back and Swoopes will grow into the position. Watson will simply have to open up the playbook more. We'll be fine.

This team will be fun to watch this year no matter how the W's and L's end up. They're playing with heart, playing physical and I'll take that any day and twice on Sundays.

However, Strong said he sensed his team was going to be embarrassed again after watching them during warm-ups.

"Just the whole demeanor. Just how they took the field. Just how they carried themselves," Strong said. "If you've been around long enough, you know. I knew that. I told them that before we ever went out. I said we're not ready to play. When you're not ready to play, this is a good football team, and we're probably going to go out here and get embarrassed."

This is not a good thing for Strong to do, IMO.  Not much of a motivational message at all.

I totally agree. If he knew that was their attitude why was he not able to change it or allow it to happen in the first place. I appreciate he is taking responsibility but why would you have the team not ready.

It's a disturbing comment.

Although not being ready to play is disturbing, I believe CS is covering some for the players.

The coaches can coach them up, do their best to put them in positions to succeed, and motivate them the best they know how but at the end of the day if he was referring to the emotional state of the team as a whole, much of the blame must fall on the players.

The coaches can't make them play any harder. The players are solely responsible for the physical and mental effort they are willing to put forth each and every play.

What you do is you jump their butts. You tell them if they don't get their heads right they are going to get their butts kicked. They either respond and get their crap together, or they do what Texas did last night. SMH.....Not to happy with Watson, but I like Charlie.

I disagree with Strong's assessment. The defense played well in the first half despite being on the field way too many snaps because the offense could not move the sticks. At halftime Texas was in the game. The opening drive of the 3rd quarter completely turned the momentum to BYU when they drove it right down our throats. That is when the tone of the game changed. In the first half the team played with emotion, they kept Hill in check and gave the team a chance to win despite having no offensive support.

The tide turned in the third when the defense started playing like Diaz was back. That is why Charlie pointed fingers at the defense. He surely knows the offense was as much to blame as anyone.
