Chiefs release Jamaal Charles

Hopefully he can land a one- or two-year contract with a contender and get a shot at a ring.

Is he recovered from his last injury and expected to play this season? I don't remember the time line on his most recent injury/surgery history.

The Cowboys might take an interest in him. They're already considering Adrian Peterson.

Don't think either of those guys want to play second fiddle to Zeke. Also I don't think Dallas can aford either one of them.

ESPN pegged Dallas as the most likely destination for AP. Peterson can't be an every down back any more. Peterson has been talking to Jerry for the past couple years about coming to Dallas.

Kind of a weird, "deja vu" moment. I remember well back in the day when Peterson and Charles were in the same recruiting class year.

EVERYBODY wanted Peterson. I mean EVERYBODY. We picked up Charles and lost Peterson to OU. I remember watching Charles' clips and thinking "what in the hell are we upset about? This kid might be too big to share a backfield with Peterson anyway."

Peterson was/is a great back. But even if I were given a chance to change it today, I think I'd still go with Charles.

Would have been great to have him play his senior year at UT...could have been a great season. Of course he got paid more than we will see in a lifetime. Seem to recall he said he didn't get a big push from the staff to return for his last season? Not sure how that could be possible with his talent.

Last time I saw something on our salary cap it didn't look good. We don't have a lot of money, even with the extra 10 mil the league upped it. I think we have bigger needs than going after AP

If AP wanted to come to Dallas, we'd make room for him regarding the salary cap.  We have to RB's in McFadden and Morris who AP can replace.  Plus Dallas just restructured Tyron Smith and someone else.  Also, Doug Free is considering retirement and Romo's salary will be somewhat off the books.  There's plenty of money for AP and D line help...

As much as I would like to have AP, and Jerry could use him to sell more tickets. I don't think he will come cheap. Maybe two years and he has to be paid less than Zeke. To me it's not worth to potential bad chemistry. Would rather use extra money on defense. We have bigger problems then a backup running back. We don't even have a proven backup QB.
