That's not a bad thing, in my opinion.
No offense to the guy, but his size doesn't seem to fit into the defensive schemes featuring 3 linemen that Strong has been known to use.

He was the Desoto coaches godson. Another Mack favor, but that didn't necessarily hurt the program. A kid that shouldn't have been recruited in the first place. Not a Strong type of kid, I have heard.

True, but Poona Ford is a little short too.
I saw that English was listed at only 5' 11". He must not have the freakish athletic ability that Ford demonstrated on his tape. English doesn't look very good in a T-shirt either. Maybe stamina is an issue?

Great news. You don't take sub- 6 foot kids that are built like refrigerators. Ford is a much better athlete and not nearly as out of shape as this kid. The kid is barely a 3 star on 247, and his only offer is the Longhorns. This is the type of kid that got Mack Brown fired. The only reason this kid was even given an offer was because his Godfather is on the staff.
I'm becoming a fan of Strong not because of the players he's picking up, but because of the players he's getting rid of. Absolutely no reason Texas should take Campbell or English.
Wish the kid the best, but this is good news.

JB, 5'11 is a Christmas gift. He's more like 5'9 I'm told. When OB first reported on this guy some time ago, that was one of the first things noted.
