1. David Ash made a few mistakes but it's hard to argue with 20-28 343 yds, 91 yds rushing. Ash may finally becoming the QB we all expected him to become.

2. 715 yards of offense is a damn huge number especially considering how we struggled the first half. Just imagine how good this offense is going to be when they get all the kinks worked out. Lets just say they are going to score a ton of points. The rest of the Big 12 better take notice.

3. The defense gave up a few plays but overall I saw a lot of improvement. They were very active and swarmed to the ball better.

4. The O line is still a work in progress but overall a decent effort. I expect Desmond Harrison to become a starter soon. Mason Walters might become the odd man out. Which tandem emerges as the best is going to be one watch but overall the OL has a chance to be decent this year.

5. Daje is just electric. He has a chance to be one hell of a player. Teams just cannot prepare for his speed we need to get this ball to him early and often.

6. We had a John Harris sighting. Hopefully the light bulb has finally come on for him.

7. I thought the LB play was improved. Edmond did some good things and when Santos was on the field he was all over the place.

8. Phillips and Thomas did a decent job at the safety positions.

9. Jalen Overstreet needs to play more

10. All of the D linemen played well. Even with Dorsey gone this group has depth and should emerge as a strength this year.

11. We will beat BYU by 3 scores

Like everyone else he struggled early. I chalk that up to jitters. He still has trouble with throwing the ball deep, but he throws those intermediate passes really well. Plus he looked running the ball.

3. The defense gave up a few plays but overall I saw a lot of improvement. They were very active and swarmed to the ball better. Defense was steady and got better as the game progressed. The secret with them is can the offense score to keep it close?

4. The O line is still a work in progress but overall a decent effort. I expect Desmond Harrison to become a starter soon. Mason Walters might become the odd man out. Which tandem emerges as the best is going to be one watch but overall the OL has a chance to be decent this year.Seemed to me like once Major figured out what was working, the OLine got better.

5. Daje is just electric. He has a chance to be one hell of a player. Teams just cannot prepare for his speed we need to get this ball to him early and often.Major showed us against Oregon St that he likes game changers, and Daje is a game changer. I think we will see more of him. I wonder what happened to J Gray?

6. We had a John Harris sighting. Hopefully the light bulb has finally come on for him.Well not much of a sighting but you are correct, it was a sighting. This team has a lot of weapons and we might see more of him in a later game.

7. I thought the LB play was improved. Edmond did some good things and when Santos was on the field he was all over the place.I like Santos tearing shit up.

8. Phillips and Thomas did a decent job at the safety positions.Indeed

9. Jalen Overstreet needs to play more

10. All of the D linemen played well. Even with Dorsey gone this group has depth and should emerge as a strength this year.Like good teams do, the pressure got intense the longer the game went.

11. We will beat BYU by 3 scoresI don't think BYU has the weapons to stay with the Horns

12. Hook'em Good post and yes indeed Hook'em:cool:

Well said bud. All of it. I'll be honest with you about Overstreet - he MOST DEFINITELY needs to play more but how, where? He's too damn good to be a package guy. He needs consistent playing time. 4th string RB ain't cutting it for me. Send that kid out at WR and let him play every freaking down. Every down.

I struggled with justifying the first half offensively and the only rational excuse can be is the newness of the season and working the kinks out.

They redeemed themselves though.

Keep mack out of majors way... Let the kids play, and quit playing safe.. I saw mack being over cautious early. Once we fell behind the playbook opened up. Remember alot of times the first few drives are scripted, throw that away and let them play... We have too much talent, to be playing safe. Ash made a few mistakes, but quickly redeemed himself, hes growing, and blossoming... Defense was much better, but yet, we wont see how good they are till at least ole miss, but what we saw, was much better.. Not as many missed tackles. We need more overstreet, without a doubt. Overall quite a gratifying night, and they made me proud to be a longhorn. HOOK EM

Mack started to get that look I hate (in the first half). That nervous, fingernail biting look followed by profuse sweating and wiping of the nose.

I hate that look. I had visions of terrible things after seeing that.

Then Ash comes back and threw strike after strike. I drank more Costa Rican rum that night in celebration.

I still wonder what happened to Jonothan Gray? He played and disappeared.

I am not a big fan of the Wildcat/Wildhorn and less of a fan of Gray running it. He has a perfect chance to hand off but instead just ran into a pile of players.

Wasn't impressed in the least bit with the offense in the first half. Actually, it was pretty damned pathetic. Glad things got clicking in the 2nd half.

Seriously concerned with the running game and run blocking. It was pretty bad all day. Just doesn't make sense to me.
