Certainly an interesting development. People on the Tech end believe that he's considering Texas, TCU, and SMU. I went to high school with him and he was always fond of TCU but certainly felt spurred when they did not offer him. TCU currently has two 3* QB commits for the 2014 class. Baker has maintained that he wants to play two sports forever and in HS he was an all state first baseman. I could see him transferring to Texas (he chose Tech over Texas for the opportunity to play football quicker) and play for Texas baseball and be on the football team and not play or provide depth/ run the scout team. His future in the pros would definitely be in baseball. It'll be interesting to monitor, I would love to see him at Texas as he can certainly hit the ball for power and is a good defensive first baseman!

Conflicting reports on whether he would have to sit out a year, I would think he could play baseball immediately.

I started hearing earlier this evening from fellow LTHS classmates that attend Texas Tech before the rampant speculation took off on Twitter later tonight.

He would at least get a scholarship this time around. Too bad he'd have to redshirt.

SMU has no baseball program, so take that one off the list if his intent is to play on a diamond. They only have it as a club team.

Wow. I'd be interested to see how this could effect the Quarterback situation we have here. I think the kid has some serious chops and I'd love for him to commit to Texas but I'd question the timing with Heard coming in.

If he really wants to come to Texas he should 1) Call Garrido and approve it with Saban 2) Enroll at Navarro Junior College or someplace similar for 1 year 3) Transfer to Texas after 1 year

Baker Mayfield says he will return for the 2017 season.
Good, I hope the Texas D lights his arse up next year for the way he acted this year. If you saw, he also showed his arse during the Bedlam game today. He acts like a no class punk!
