The Texas Longhorns (8-4, 6-3 Big 12) will cap their 2022 season with an appearance in the Valero Alamo Bowl on Thursday, December 29th against the Washington Huskies (10-2, 7-2 Pac-12).  Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian improved from a 5-7 record last season and looks to reach the nine-win mark with a win over first year Huskies coach Kurt DeBoer.

The Longhorns will face the nation's #2 team in total offense - Washington racks up 521.7 yards per game and boasts the top passing offense  among FBS teams.  Texas Quarterback Quinn Ewers has struggled in his last handful of games, and will be without star running back Bijan Robinson and team captain and running back Roschon Johnson - both of whom have opted out of the bowl game in favor of the NFL Draft.

These two teams have met four times before, with Texas holding a 3-1 record in those contests.  The Alamo Bowl appearance marks the sixth for the Longhorns and the fifth since 2012.

Glad they finally posted this video. They've played it before each home game this season (minus the Alamodome footage of course.)

May the fleas of a thousand camels invade staff's armpits (except Devon). Staff is made up of a bunch of Kirk Bohls wannabes, except for Devon who picked Texas. ?

Go Horns! ?
Damn, Tejas.  That's pretty low!  ?

I think this game is close in the 4th quarter and it will be up to Quinn Ewers to show that he can close this game.  He hasn't shown that yet and Washington QB Michael Penix is a guy that has thrown for over 4K yards on the season.  He makes his bread and butter on the long passes/ the deep ball and I can't see this Texas secondary stopping it all night.  I hope I'm wrong...

Elaborating on the comment I made in the prediction about the running game, it will be interesting to see how Sark distributes the carries.  He has already said that Robinson, Brooks and Blue will all play - who is the "featured" back and how he uses them will be something to keep an eye on.  I'll say this too - if Texas can get the running game going against what is a not-so-good Huskies defense, Texas may just pull this game off.  Washington won't be able to run against the Texas defense, so the linebackers and secondary MUST play solid ball if Texas wants to win this game.

This game is important for a ninth win but it also sets the tempo for next season.  'Horns need this one.

I think part of the Penix problem will be solved through pass rush. Hopefully, Texas will have a spy on him who will meet him each time he flees the pocket.

Texas will be the fastest and most athletic team Washington has seen this season.

Whatever happens tonight, I’ve got a feeling the game day thread is going to be a LOT more enjoyable.
