So tired of the SEC hype. Was that really impressive? After what FSU did to them??

Not an impressive victory at all. But a damn good comeback. Johnny Football was unstoppable. I have to give credit where it's due.

The stars aligned for A&M in so many ways in the past 2 years...

The LHN was created and Aggieland felt slighted...

They then took your ball and left your playground to go to the SEC. Their departure left such a void in the Big 12 that it almost imploded. No longer could UT take solace in beating their in-state rival despite overall W/L records.

They want no part of playing UT ever again, per some of their reports... they would even block entry of UT to the SEC. It's bitter blood, there...

Then JF comes along. Manziel was the golden child that made the risky move by the Aggies look, in hindsight, genius. He wanted to go to UT but was snubbed, so the story goes. He went to A&M and became their legend... they beat #1 Alabama at home. The next week UT lost to TCU (who replaced the Aggies) at DKR.

More money has entered the coffers of Aggieland with the above moves that anyone could have ever imagined.

And tonight the ESPN analyst says A&M is "THE University in Texas" in their post-game commentary...

It's an amazing progression that the nation witnessed with Johnny Football and the SEC. Simply unreal what it has done with Aggie Football and the national stage. It's infuriating for a Longhorn fan...

It's pretty darn important that UT needs to hire a proven coach that is a winner right now...don't you think?

Excellent post and welcome to the board, if someone hasn't already said that. You are preaching to the choir my friend. Can't say I disagree with a thing you said and the conclusion is something we are all too aware - this hire is monumental for us. We have a culture to change. We need instant impact baby.

I would only contest your point on the void left behind. I think you've mistaken that for the underachievement at Texas. Aggy success was given a jump start by Texas' setting the table for its own demise. Declining Texas = improving aggy. However, I think aggy's emergence is not as significant, achievement wise, as what Baylor has done. Combined with the decline and instablity of Tech and Texas, both schools have seized the opportunity and feature exciting, SportsCenter highlight offenses that make recruits say "yea, I want to play for them."

We have to change that starting the moment this guy is hired.

That was sick. Duke owned them the whole game. I'll give some respect to JM for the crazy ass comeback he lead but Duke beat themselves with the two late INT's and two no calls on obvious PI.

I've never been as a big a Duke fan as I was last night. And probably will never be again.

They was robbed.

Robbed I tell you.

The fact they finally won bowl games in three consecutive seasons for the first time in the history of their program is a big deal for them.

Of course, now we turn to basketball season. Their basketball team got crushed yesterday by North Texas.

An oft repeated untruth is that A&M left because of the LHN. That's what aggy wants the world to believe and for some reason in spite of the facts it is what people continue to say. First of all, aggy was invited into the network which would have been called the Lone Star Network. Being that it was our brainchild and we are clearly more of a national brand we proposed something like a 60-40 split. Aggy declined and we went forward. Meanwhile, in spite of their "honor code" they were assuring all members of the Big 12 that they were staying - even accepting money from the conference while backroom dealing with the SEC for an exit. LHN had nothing to do with it - just a convenient excuse to protect their "honor".

You can say all you want that they are THE team of Texas. The talking heads can as well. But the simple truth of the matter is that that would be like someone acting like Purdue was THE team in Indiana after a few good years or Michigan St being THE team in Michigan. Or NC State. And so on.

Aggy just eeked by #24 Duke en route to a 10-4 season or whatever. They lost every meaningful game they played in this year. And for some reason - probably Johnny Manziel - people think they're a power program.

A few quick observations

Duke may be better than most people thought although Aggy has a horrendous defense so I think that was more to do with it.

Without Johnny Football, Aggy is nothing but a 3-4 win team the last 2 years.

How many times does Reese Davis need to refer them as the Team in Texas. (Pathetic)
