To add to ET:

Some (@ Texas) didn't want to hire Stoops because he was just a DC. I hated Stoops, but might had liked him had those wins were in burnt orange. Then there was an editor at popular online website that really push Tom Herman because he was "allegedly" very organized among other traits . DKR wasn't the first choice because he didn't have the skins other coaches in pursuit had at that time. When asked around, DKR's name kept popping up. Common theme from above is hiring should be based on football decisions (and preferably by football people), not marketing, big splash hires.
