Randolph, thanks for posting.  Interesting and emotional article.  I remember the August 1, 1966 news casts as a boy in San Antonio.  In the early to mid 70s when I was at UT, every time I walked across campus in sight of the Tower, I was always drawn to peer at the Observation Deck to make sure another Whitman wasn't taking aim at me.
