2021 Lake Travis TE Lake McRee Commits To Texas

I know some were expecting a bigger fish this early, but I’m told this was done the moment the offer was extended. He’s a great fit in the H-Back/TE role for Texas offense and is a fine prospect.

I’ll have a quick hitter eval later on today.

The players who grew up true die hard Texas fans like him always seem to pan out. They seem to work harder, and put so much pride into being a Longhorn that they refuse to fail. 

I hope Lake turns into one of those guys! Hook Em!

Jury is still out. Not sure I would compare him to Thomas just yet.

I was at a game in Lincoln, NE David's Freshman year.  I saw a woman with one of those photo pins with #16 on it.  Being in close proximity, I struck up a conversation with her and her husband saying that I grew up around Lubbock and was glad to see a prospect from the area make it to Austin.  It turns out, my dad coached David's dad in Little League and my oldest brother went to school with the parents.

So, I agree, with a bit of bias, that David Thomas "may just be the best TE ever to play at Texas."

I hope Lake can come very close, if not pass David, however.  I kinda hope that with each new player.

He was a three-star recruit in the panhandle at the same time in his career.
