In the interest of full disclosure I really enjoyed the sophomoric antics of the wannabe insiders last year. . . .I also enjoyed mocking them. . .

Latest story is that Hay-Sues Take My Shuttle is claiming that coaches from the San Angelo Coach's Clinic were so upset with Coach Strong's speaking. . .they have sent Patterson a letter stating they displeasure. . . .

Yes, SHA. . .I know he's your customer .. . .he's also putting himself out there and if he can't take the heat. . ..oh wait. . .nevermind. . .he doesn't even use his real name. . ..

Now common sense (a rare quality with our wannabes) would tell you that if they were really unhappy . . .they just wouldn't invite him back .. .

I haven't read the story as I have left IT twice in the past 15 years and know few who post there anymore. . . but it's being discussed on OB . .. which is funny as some have run with the story like it's gospel. . . .

BTW, the claims made by some hack writing for ESPN using "anonymous sources" have largely been refuted by real people who actually attended the event. . . .

So what does the HS community think of all this. . . . .

opinions will be divided along party lines meaning those who don't like the hire of strong will use this as a 'see, i told you so...he's the wrong guy...we could have done better' moment. those who are either in favor of the hire or at least in a wait-and-see mode will lean on the recent reports from Howe and Suchomel which are more supportive.

This is a post from utlawman on the OB board, it seems that Hay Sues might have been playing fast and loose with the truth.  .. . I'm not a big fan of dishonesty. . . .

I posted the notes at the bottom a few days ago. If Jesus or Cigar say the founders and directors wrote a letter to Patterson complaining of Charlie, he is wrong. Totally. The directos are seriously considering submitting an article contesting the ESPN article. I have Tech friends that say they were eating at Zentners Daughter Restaurant the night after charlie spoke and coach strong and other UT coaches came in. As Strong walked by their table he said hello and stayed and spoke to them for 10 minutes. They were very impressed. Read my notes again below. The man I quote below is a founder of the clinic and a good friend and not a particular longhorn fan. He was very upset with the ESPN article, believe me.

I am starting a new post regarding the ESPN article understanding that Suchomel has addressed some of this in an another post. But did not want this to be lost by posting under his thread as it is already long.

I am not a coach, but have been active in Texas Exes here in San Angelo for many years. We have hosted the UT coaches for the past 15 years or so, when they come to the San Angelo clinic. I have attended the clinic many times to hear coaches speak, including hearing Mack speak his first summer before he ever coached a game for UT. I was out of town the day Coach Strong spoke, but sat next to Coach Wickline the next day when he spoke at our Texas Exes scholarship luncheon and heard him speak. I was very impressed with Wickline. I am posting the link to Strong's talk that was published on the front page of the Standard Times sports page the day after he spoke. There was nothing negative mentioned in that article.

I read the ESPN article mentioned by Suchomel and this afternoon I called one of the founders of the San Angelo Coaching Clinic who has no ties to UT, but who has college and NFL coaching experience. He is very well respected in Texas High School coaching circles as are all the founding members of the clinic. I asked him if he heard Coach Strong speak and if he had read the ESPN article and immediately he replied with: "the article is BS"; "no truth whatsoever"; "totally incorrect"; "very biased"; "the author must have had it written before he ever came to the clinic"; "not sure how that guy got into the clinic". He thought Strong did a good job speaking. He was a little disappointed Strong was not able to stay longer and mix and mingle more, but commented many head coaches come and go and do not spend the evening. UT did have assistant coaches stay for both days of the clinic.

He told me "Charlie Strong is a damn good football coach" and he said he had time to visit with him before and after he spoke and thought he was personable and not introverted as some have described.

I had a subscription for 4 months at IT (Oct-Jan) just to be able to get their "inside info" on the coaching search. As I said once while posting on their site, all insiders have an agenda and a bias. The agenda on IT was to do, and say, whatever it takes to generate interest in their site and sell subscriptions. In other words, never let the truth get in the way of a good story.

Charlie is getting the Texas Longhorns ready to beat the crap out of a lot of teams on the field, and when he does, I hope that ESPN has to do what the student section adds to Texas Fight!

Hook 'em, Charlie!

non de plume  of one of the self proclaimed insiders. . .I was using Ebonics to avoid confusion between Shuttleworth and the son of God. . .
"hay sues" is not at all "ebonics".  actually, it's more akin to duck dynasty..

Cheese, he's not my customer. He and I are doing some business together and have on and off for the past year or so.

I don't think Kevin Berger would have a hard time going by his own name. But with so much time having gone by Jesus Shuttlesworth in the past, it would be like me dropping SHA and going by Mark. I appreciate those of you who call me by my first name, but most who don't know Mark at least do know SHA.

He's taken the heat before so I see no reason why he wouldn't be able to this time. I speak to him a few times each week and though I haven't taken time to talk with him about UT things, his frame of mind has been quite normal.

I haven't read the story you're referring to so all I'm doing is speaking up for Kevin, who's about as good a guy as you could hope to meet. I feel the same way about you, cheese.
