Sorry guys.  Hell of a run this year.  Got a LOT of free baseball from this team.  Very gutty effort.  Love this bunch of kids.

so very proud!

Returning in the field:

Barrera, Clemens, Marlow, Hinojosa, Gurwitz, Shaw, Johnson, and McGuire (this doesn't even include bench players that didn't see time this year like Barton, Kennedy, Macalla, and Boswell).

Returning pitchers:

Goins, Hollingsworth, Cooper, Duke, Sawyer, Malmin, Swan. Clemens.
French and or Schiraldi might both be back (I think at least one comes back but that's just a guess).

Incoming recruits:

IMO the best class we've had in a long time with Baker, Cantu, Jones, Schimpf, Robinson, Mayes, Mathis, Johnston, Denny. Cantu, Schimpf, Robinson and Jones are absolute studs. The best thing about this class in comparison with years past, is it doesn't look like we will lose a signee.

Texas should be ranked at least in the top 10 preseason, if not higher.

Augie has some interesting decisions next year though. Cantu and McGuire are very good players, the problem is finding a spot for them. A player that nobody has been talking about is Bret Boswell. He had some type of shoulder injury in the early part of the year so never saw time. My buddy said that he's been absolutely destroying the ball in batting practice once he got over the injury. My guess is the infield stays the same except Cantu will be at first and Boswell/Mcguire will be at third. Gurwitz will move to left, Johnson to center and Shaw to right. I really don't mind what happens with the infield/outfield but Cantu has to be in the lineup IMO.

Augie also has some interesting choices in terms of pitching. IMO Hollingsworth and Cooper have to be starters. Those two would give us a 12 punch that's pretty damn good. If French comes back he will be a starter. Have no clue what Augie will do with Clemens, Schimpf, Duke and Robinson, They all have starters type stuff. I would guess Duke becomes the closer and Clemens and Robinson work out of the pen. I could see Schimpf/Goins as the midweek starter. Who knows what Augie will do with Schiraldi if he comes back. Schiraldi had zero command for most of the year, but when he did he might have had the best stuff on our staff.

Either way you look at, Augie has some tough decisions. Granted, it's a good problem to have.

Looking at the recruiting rankings, I'm pretty sure we are bringing in the number 1 class. We are technically ranked 6, but the 5 above us lost signees to the draft.
