*****GAME THREAD: No. 11 Texas Longhorns vs. Mississippi State Bulldogs*****

Looking at the game stats wise this game had some serious suckage. 13 first downs. Less than 300 yards of offense.
Are we going to delude ourselves into believing that we'll go anywhere in the playoff's. If we even make it that far.
The score did not look like a 31 to 3 win...........other than the D

I started thinking that I'm overly pessimistic about this team.... then I saw this:

I'm afraid we lose 2 more games rounding out the season 8-4 after being ranked #1 early in the year. I hope I'm wrong. You can't win with an OL that can't run or pass-block (2nd year in a row). In this age, you cannot win with just defense.

It depends on who we play, if we make the playoffs. There are some weak teams that will make it on their record alone. We should be able to beat a G6 team and any 2nd or 3rd team from Big 12 or ACC.

I think the over-under for losses the rest of the schedule is 1.5. I'm afraid (gun to head) I take the over. @Missouri and @LSU look like probable losses to me right now. Aggie isn't a sure thing either.

I'd love to be proven wrong.

Isn't his kid a LB at OU as well?
I thought his kid is part of the 27 class? I know he’s committed now but that doesn’t mean what it used to. If Witten doesn’t perform well as the interim OC, he will likely be run out of town as well. They are definitely a dumpster fire and Venables has too big of a buyout.

On Texas Football put out a podcast yesterday with coaches Bryan Erwin and Bob Shipley. It was consistent with what I've heard people like Marcus Myers and Tony Hills say.... They seem befuddled by our offensive line and their inability to pick up twists and stunts that have been a part of football since people didn't wear facemasks. Marcus actually said "I don't even know what our interior linemen are trying to do" or words to that effect.

Don't get me wrong... they are also befuddled at WHAT our OL is being asked to do at times. And at the playcalling, like running into a stacked box. They seem to not know whether to be befuddled that Arch doesn't option out of the run when the box is stacked.... or to be befuddled that Arch isn't given the authority to opt out of the run in said situation.

I'm afraid that at the end of this year our post season anticipation is going to be whether or not CDC steps in and insists that Sark release the OC and playcalling to someone else. I doubt our anticipation will be gearing up for a playoff run.
