University of Texas:

Founded : 1883
Total enrollment : ~55k
Endowment:47.5 Billion
Average SAT score: 1420.
Fobes school rank: #42.

University of Tenesee

Founded : 1794
Total enrollment: ~41k
Endowment : ~2 billion
Average SAT score 1330.
Forbs school rank : #145

Tenesee fans love to point out how the original Tennessee volunteers helped Texas fight for its independence and statehood. This is an interesting factoid, but has mostly nothing to do with either university(except the Tenesee nick name). Obviously the state of Texas is grateful for the actual Tenesee volunteers that aided during our founding.

The University of Tennessee is the older institution.

The University of Texas is the bigger, richer and more prestigious institution.

Both schools are large universities with long and proud histories and traditions.

I understand that the nature of fan bases is to make silly often idiotic proclamations or names, but come on folks, niether school is fake and neither school is more real then the other.

I doubt this changes anybodies name calling behavior, but I wanted to get this off my chest.

We’re the #1 team until someone beats us, so everyone will get up for us. If we sleepwalk offensively like we did against UTSA there are plenty of teams on our schedule that can and will beat us.

That said, our orange is a much more pleasant shade of orange
