2026 PORTAL

No, Sark even mentioned him as having good practices so far. I think there was speculation he could move on though.
There was something that came out about him leaving during early part of the season, but it was confirmed all false.

From CTJ re Moore

"Moore had agreed to a number heading into last December that people could make sense of, even if it was high and based more on hope for 2025 than anything he’d done up that point.

They then waited until Texas had sorted its commitments out to retention, to guys in the portal and the signing class, at which point they doubled their ask, bringing it up massively. The choice was to meet the ask rather than risk not having a replacement and even facing, if I remember correctly, the premise of him leaving before the ASU or Ohio State game (can’t remember which).

That ultimately impacted the ability to land other portal guys who had an interest in Texas at other key positions.

Now the dude is asking for something like $1M. I hope Texas laughed in his fucking face. I think he is worth backup money to someone else, but they’ll find someone desperate and he’ll get $500K or something. For Texas, having him on the roster and drawing a paycheck puts other players at risk of leaving."

The portal and NIL have injured college sports. The damage to college sports will get much worse.

FIFY. You're welcome

Interesting....

I would say this is what we definitely need in the way of "starters" from the portal:

2 Offensive Guards
1 Running Back (to share time with Wisner as Cooper develops)

Possible "starter needs" from the portal:

Corner (depending on where Littleton ends up / and how Black performs)
Tight End (I know we have talent... is it ready?)
OT (if Goosby leaves --- say it ain't so Trevor)

I actually think that Wingo, Livingstone and Mosley V are good starters at WR.... but I doubt Sark would pass on a speed merchant.

I think it’s definitely 3 IOL (2 starters and 1 experienced depth).
Need 2 running backs with how shallow the room is - 1 bruiser and 1 pass catcher (like Jaydon Blue).
We’re fine at TE, especially if Endries comes back.
WR we could use an experienced explosive guy. Jermaine Bishop will be that, but I’d hate to rely on a freshman.

I don't know about WR. I think if you bring in portal guys you're pushing your young talent out.

I'm excited to see Bishop. Based on what I've heard.... he very well may contribute heavily as a true Freshman.

I hear you.... and I don't disagree. But one must be very careful not to go too far with this type of thinking. I believe this is exactly what we did last year.... particularly on the OL and it cost us in a mighty way.

There's a fine line I guess is what I'm saying... and I'd error on the side of putting the best team on the field each year.

Where do you think we need starters? I know we will use the portal for depth.

Definitely 2 interior OL starters. A bigger running back would be starter 1b with Wisner being 1a. I think we need the explosive wide receiver, because we don’t have anyone with experience that fits that role. All our young receivers are more in the Wingo, Mosley, Livingston mode

Agreed. I think WR is one of the easier positions for young guys to make an impact early. Especially if they are willing blockers. OL is a lot more difficult unless you are a Kelvin Banks type stud. IMO.
