Predict the Schedule – 2023

This "we suck until we don't" crap is getting old. How miserable must some people be to always have to be negative. Patterson screwed this athletic dept. And he did such an adept job that we're still digging our way out.

If you can't see the improvement from 2021, you're blind.

As a Texas Rangers fan I have learned to holster my PTSD and live with a "hope springs eternal" attitude. If they are going to disappoint me I can always wait for it until the fall. My days before then are much better for it. Does success taste better if you're pessimistic for 3/4 of the year?
I cannot begin to tell you how much I agree with this.  Kudos to you, Baron!

If coaches had a player on the team with this kind of attitude, they would hold the door open if the player wanted to leave.

If you really feel that way, please don’t use the inclusive word we because WE don’t suck.

Now, put on your big boy pants, gut it up, and accept the facts.  This team should be really good, and the season should be a lot of fun.  Quit trying to protect yourself by being negative.  It’s really not very mature of you, and it won’t work anyway.

Move over shallow water, let the deep water roll!

Hook ‘em!

Can you remember your thoughts about the 2005 team at this point in the year? Did you have any idea the MNC was coming? I know DKR's two title teams were pretty well hyped at the time.

ND has broken my heart a time or two. TCU just pisses me off. Cockroaches was a good word for them.

You've probably seen more UT football than anyone else on this board, I'd imagine.
UT started the season at #2 and stayed there all year. I definitely expected them to play in the BCS Championship.

Bobby Burton asked this at Inside Texas:

"The first question is really simple: how many wins is “enough” for Steve Sarkisian this season?

The second is more nuanced:

What number of wins do you think they need to keep moving the program forward versus how many you think they’ll actually win?

In other words, what are your reasonable hopes versus your reasonable expectations?"

I don't look at it by number of wins. What is the floor for this team? In my book it is a CCG appearance. I expect a Big 12 championship. There shouldn't be 3 losses on the schedule up to and including the CCG. If they don't win the Big 12 CCG in a down year with this talent, how would anyone expect them to compete for one in the SEC. The ceiling for this team is a CFP appearance.

So I guess my answer would be 10, 10, 11

The burnt orange kool-aid is going HARD this offseason ?

I'll remain at 8-4 until I see us win games we're supposed to win.

If you're right we don't move up in the recruits eyes and a downward spiral starts. You seem to be a "we suck until we don't" kind of guy. We can talk after the Horns first loss.

You're not wrong. Week 2 it is then.

I second Big Daddy Cane's point in saying it never plays out the way it shows on paper, and I absolutely will not get sucked into drinking the koolaid until I see us win games we're supposed to win.

Rice – W

Bama – L

Wyoming – W

Baylor – W

Kansas – W

Oklahoma – W

Houston – W

BYU – W

K-State – L

TCU – L

Iowa State – W

Tech – L

Prediction: 8-4. Hope they prove me wrong.
If Sark goes 8-4 with this roster he should be fired.

With that said.

We suck until we don't

Not that I agree because I don't think we suck right now, but . . . what is the barrier needing to be crossed for Texas to rid itself of the suck factor with you?

12-0?

11-1?

10-2?

9-3?

CCG appearance.. minimum. No reason we shouldn't be there at the end of the season. Its not too much to ask with the talent advantage we have.

But as recent history shows us, it doesn't always play out how it looks on paper.

I'll believe it when I see it.

So every team that doesn't appear in a conference championship game sucks? Bama didn't play for one last year.

The question is how to know when we don't suck anymore.
