2023 Portal Recruiting (CLOSED)

Every one keeps talking about getting an edge in the portal. We take a chance on scaring off our young talent at that position if we do. We have Finkley, Tapp, Sorrell and Burke on the roster right now. With Akana, Vasek and Gullette who can more than likely play from a two point stance, coming in, with the addition of Hill, who is a LB that can play from sideline to sideline, we should be set. That's basically eight guys for four positions.

And before SHA gets on me about punctuation and paragraphs, yes that was rambling. ?

I agree - people who advocate taking people in the portal don’t realize that steals reps from growing young talent we need to develop on campus already - and there is a reason that person is transferring instead and it’s usually not a great reason

Might want to keep an eye on this one

Ok, this is a WR that I offer immediately if I'm Texas.  Great hands, decent speed, very good catch radius.  Being in Hawaii I've watched a lot of west coast games and he caught my eye on multiple occasions (where I actually said at one point, "How in hell did Texas let him leave the state?".  Gotta at least offer.

Okay. I would like to get something straight. The defense we run always has four on the line of scrimmage. Does a two point stance have that much difference from a three or four. The players we are recruiting for both positions seem to have similar physical stats.

You seldom see a 4-point stance anymore. We've gotten lazy in that regard.

Most DTs and some DEs will take the 3-point stance which does give forward momentum at the snap.

The stand-up DEs and LBs represent the two-point stance.
