**Running College Football Updates Thread**

I have always had mad respect for The Pirate. He was a burr in the saddle at Tech, but he made the Big12 sooo much better. I wonder how things would have gone if Craig James hadn't babied his son and left things alone. ESPN should never have given him the platform they did.

Coach Leach succeeded in places other coaches couldn't. RIP

Rest in peace Pirate, you were one of a kind for sure.
I will say I would have enjoyed the last 13-14 years of Texas football a lot, if the Pirate was our coach. In the bad years you’d have something to laugh at (fat girlfriends, mascot fights, etc) and sometimes something to think about. But he would have had some good years. It’s a shame no big school gave him a chance. I hope he enjoyed his life as much as it looked like he did. I was always a fan. Even when he beat us.

I didn't start liking him until he left OU. Just wanted to get that on the record. lol

Will A&M have an OC prior to signing day? Not that it matters much, they don't seem to plan on signing many offensive skill players anyways.

For early signing period? Not likely.

These are the possible scenarios in my mind:

- ideal scenario is they have their guy, but can't announce it yet due to OC's current obligations
- Petrino was their guy, but the backlash was too much and they decided to keep looking
- Petrino wasn't actually the guy, but his name was floated in the media to buy them more time because they haven't gained any traction yet with other candidates
- worst case scenario is Jimbo doing a half-ass OC search to make it appear as if he's trying to implement change, but the reality is it's all a facade so he can promote from within or hire someone that will allow him to maintain control of the offense
