Does Ewers countenance / body language bother you?  Ehlinger made some horribly stupid mistakes as a freshman.  Colt improved immensely after his freshman year.  Vince couldn’t throw the ball in the ocean from the edge of a boat, as a freshman.  But I never watched them and thought “he doesn’t want to be out there” or anything like that. I never felt they were “clinching up.”  I can’t say that about Ewers.  

I have seen some bad body language and some attitude towards other players mistakes. I figure (hope) that's just immaturity at this point. 

I do remember VY and Colt getting frustrated with their teamates but not the body language.

I was a freshmen the year Snead transferred out. I remember seeing him leaving the grocery store at Jester West with a bag full of gatorades. I'm pretty sure he made the trip to spend up all of his "Bevo Bucks" on his way off campus. Never really heard much about him after the transfer.

Yes he was. several QB have left Texas abd done quite well.

It did to me.  But also earlier in the year when the team scores he’d walk off the field.  Later in the year when he was struggling he’d start showing emotion and cheering the team after scoring.    You can say be a pro and act like you’ve scored and while I get that, this is college and these are still kids.  I liked to see it as he’s showing some passion and support.

he has all the physical tools to be an elite QB but he needs to do it mentally but also do better and will the team to victory.  That’s how he’ll become a champion.

I didn't really recall his Ole Miss career. (looks like he led a couple of 9-4 seasons with some pretty good passing numbers) Funny thing, I was in college during those years but probably didn't follow college football to the same degree that I do now - I certainly had no idea about recruiting and such. 

Sadly I read that he committed suicide at the age of 32, he had been suffering from dementia like symptoms, and believed to have CTE.

You didn't see that until that two game stretch where he couldn't do anything right. I think it was just frustration.

Until that point, the repeated mantra was how cool and collected he seemed for a frosh.

Not Sir but here is my take fwiw. Ewers does things that admittedly cause me to fall in love with his potential. Unfortunately, OSU, TCU and the frequent deep misses left me screaming into my pillow in frustration. If it were my call, I would have pulled him those two games. Even his body language Friday left a lot to be desired for me. It seemed to me that earlier in the season he was just playing the game but as the season went on, he was overthinking things. Trying to be too perfect. That to me is where Sark needed to simplify things and put him in a better situation to succeed. Ultimately, I will root for whoever the starter is and hope they give Texas the best chance to succeed regardless of his last name. 

In regards to Ewers and his regression over the season, the above in bold is the closet to what I believe happened. While the QB gets all the glory, they get all the blame too. I think he was feeling the pressure. Hopefully he'll learn, like other young QBs have, to handle it better.

I did not know about his suicide. That's a really sad end for him.

There is a really good article about this written from a friend and families perspective that I read years ago. The friend coached in high school, I think it was written by the Statesman. It has a lot of insights that are hard to fathom that he went thru before he passed away. They family donated his brain to research for head trauma research as the result of repeated head injuries in football. By all accounts he had very early dementia and memory lapses. Certainly a tragic end to a great young man’s life.
