We still would’ve won.  It just would’ve been closer. 

I agree he doesn’t play defense. Neither did their defense for that matter.

Oh yes the middle is open. I just don’t like being two yards behind the receiver and he catches and we tackle him. Challenge the freaking catch. Get the hands in there and strip the ball loose. We didn’t challenge any throws today. Patterson did this as good as anyone in the country with alot less talent than we have. I was hoping he would instill some of that when he came here. I haven’t followed PK before he got here but for us to ever get with the top teams we have to develop that and quit making every single QB a Heisman Trophy candidate. It’s been happening for 12 years. 

He plays a lot of soft zone for some reason.  I would love to see our talent play man coverage and contest passes.

The Big 12 is tough.  If Texas plays near perfect we can beat teams pretty soundly by a few TDs, but to expect it week over week just won’t be possible.   We aren’t that good at every position just yet.   We may get there but I expect more games likes this because teams will make us play ugly. 
 

Iowa St is smartly coached and they don’t miss many tackles or assignments.   
 

good to get this W.   Next week will be more of the same although we can improve upon many things.

Texas was 21 pts better talentwise imo.  But Campbell is a phenomenal coach as is Heacock.  Iowa State is physical and disciplined

It might have happened if we had beaten Bama. Other than that, I can’t imagine it happening for a conference game. Except maybe if we beat Kansas.?

Ugly win, but a win nevertheless. A lot that can and should be fixed, but the team is young and ahead of schedule in my book. Last year we lose this game. That's progress and this team's better days are ahead of them. ?

Well we are 5-2. We beat OU 49-0. We will win at least 8 games this season. That’s with 2 freshman on the Oline, and and a freshman QB. We have freshman playing on defense too.
Iowa State has  been playing everybody tough. They have the best defense in the Conference. 
Things are getting better, and I think everyone can see it. This team has a good chance to make some real noise next year. This year is gonna be a roller coaster. 
We have had some lousy teams the past 10 years. But this team is better, and the future looks bright

Agree. Some people need to learn and chill after a victory. Did it go as most thought? no but we won. I've sat through some nasty beatdowns by UCLA, Baylor, ou twice, aggy and others. An ugly win is a heck of a lot better!

Earlier I grilled some filets and opened a nice bottle of red wine. Learn to enjoy the moment!

To be fair, the Texas offense wasn't very sharp at all today for at least 30 minutes of the game.  They still put up 24 points against that defense. At least 14 points left on the field.  IST is a good defense, but if this offense is cranking then they can put 40pts on anyone in the B12, imo.

I agree. Offense and Defense need to improve. We gave up more yards than we gained (404 vs 364). Turnovers saved us. 

As long as our defense gives up less points than our offense scores and our offense scores more points than our defense gives up, I'm good ?
