on the offensive side of the ball Texas has the players to compete with anyone in the nation

on the defensive side of the ball Texas doesnt have enough legit playmakers to be a serious contender for a conference champion. I will give Kwiatkowski a pass for now  because he is using smoke and mirrors to paste together a legit defense  with an empty shelf left over from the previous administration

Sark showed me that he is indeed one of the best play callers in the country, he has a world class RB with a mediocre OL, and above average QB who looked like a world beater at times but also missed some throws that should have been made

This was gut punch of epic proportions not going to get over this overnight, maybe longer, IMO we are at least one or two great recruiting classes away from being a championship program again

Are you including the OL.Hard to find a LB playing better than #0 DBS were 4&5 stars need to play the ball not the reciever.DL not sure how the rate.

Agreed. I would add a War Daddy that can get consistent pressure. Hard for DBs to cover for as long as some had to today. Even when we did get home with delayed blitzes, we struggled to bring the QB down.

Lots of missed tackles for loss today. Texas defenders were hitting them in the backfield but not getting them down.

Our defense played decent at times.  We made them take 3 several times.  I think they gassed the second half against the run.  They had the ball 11 more minutes than we did and had quite a few more plays.  We’ve got to get much better on that side of the ball.  Too many deep balls where our DBs get turned around or don’t look back. We have several veteran DBs and that shouldn’t be happening.  When we score 40 or 50 points we have to win those.  Hope PK figures something out.

Overshown is world class but IMO OU found a way to neutralize him by basically letting him loose to pursue and going after the spot where he was, he was THE factor early but didnt hear or see his name  as much in the 3rd/4th qtr

I agree with you about the DB's, with the exception of Rice this defense as been exposed by lesser offenses. I dont think we have one that you could put on an island and ask them to shut down the other teams # 1 WR

We had a big lead and as another poster said we choked.  Simple as that.  I understand ou plays us differently but we are supposed to play them differently as well.  That’s the whole point of a rivalry.   There is no excuse for the loss we just blew it.  I haven’t seen the numbers but they racked up 650+ yards?   So no our defense did not play good.  It stings but Sark is just starting.

Sark could be like Kirby.  I know most of y’all don’t think Kirby is a good coach,  but he was a Saban disciple, left for a major program, has recruited top notch every year since he’s been there and now he’s one of the top couple of teams in the country.  We’re ranked #2 right now in recruiting, so Sark is a good recruiter.  Get a couple of top recruiting class and fill in with the portal and we should get way better.

I haven’t kept up with recruiting much this year but I would think OL and DL upgrades should be a priority.  Bijan is special because he makes people miss but our OL is not good

I just saw the list lots of DL commits.  Hopefully one of these guys has the impact of Malcolm Brown.  Our DL has not been dominant since the Mack Brown years with Malcolm Brown and Hassan Ridgeway.

Overall, this year's version has been very disappointing. Not sure if its scheme or ability but none of them seem to be consistently dominant like the two you mention. Really expected Big Al to breakout this year. Did not see much of Murphy today. He has shown some ability.

Not yet, but a good offense will make a difference even against common opponents.

I think we have a good team. We fell apart in the 4th until towards the end there. We were game planned for a different QB. 

This journey back to the top won't be a quick one. Gotta be patient. We're making strides. We've got a good team. We'll see this bunch again.
