Hermann needs to go

If its not USAToday, then why did you post a link to USAToday? And wouldn't giving info like that to douche Bohls be pretty unlikely? This board normally knows info sooner than he does anyway.

It would not matter if it were an opinion piece or a front page story. Providing information can come from either. It happens every single day.

I don't speak for breitbart, but that would belong in the political thread anyway.

You're really having trouble with the political stuff, huh? Did I get any mail today? lol
Because they syndicate Bohl's column. No surprise that you didn't check that since your political beliefs kept you from that. Bohls would know about CDC liking James Franklin because he talks to him.

You may want to stay away from Horn Sports since they are associated with USA Today. I'm tolerant of Horn Sports relationship with your sponsorship and you try do the same.

Okay, thanks for cementing my point further than I would have but I'll go along with it.

I don't think UM or UT will be talking to a syndicated columnist anytime soon.

I don't think CDC is going to show his cards to Bohls, either. You can believe whatever you want, I don't care.

Leave it to you to totally screw up your own posts by venturing off topic. I never said I had a problem with USAToday. At one point, I did some work for them.

I'd like to just back away now and let you argue with yourself, since you seem to be arguing points only you know anything about. lol

It really doesn't matter to me if you stay at HS or not. I just wish you'd 1) stop showing the world how butt hurt you are from the political thread, and 2) keep your politics off the football threads.

I have read Kirk's columns since he started with the AAS...he is NOT a UT homer, in fact he makes a living of being an anti Horn bandleader,CDC might talk to him but he certainly knows better that to trust KB with any inside info...

If Texas makes a change it comes down to two choices, do you go after a coach that has a NC on his resume or do you go after a coach that you feel will win a NC with the vast resources UT has at its disposal ( Herman 2.0)...

at this point the only thing that may save TH's job is that reported $15M buyout..CDC has shown fiscal responsibility so far with keeping Shaka Smart...he won't dump TH unless he has his #1 choice signed and can justify that choice to the Regents, especially if it doesnt look like there is any big bowl game payoff this year...

My guess is that the way UT plays the last two games determines TH fate...if this team quits and goes thru the motions in the last two games CDC has no choice but to make the change

You are correct in that he's not a UT homer which he shouldn't. He's not anti Horn although that could help after the last eleven years.

I disagree on what happens for the last two games. Herman is gone.

Its going to be hard to win next two games. Two mighty power houses are awaiting up in Kansas. Then we have big gameTomso no worries.

No thanks to Venables. He's never been a HC. We would be going backwards. Going from Strong's four years as a head coach to Herman's two years at UH to Venables zero experience..
I hear you.... it’s a gamble outside of Meyer.   Success at a mid-major doesn’t guarantee head coaching success.... see Texas and Nebraska.  If there’s a coordinator with a high probability of success it’s Venables.  But your point is noted.

A lot of the excuses the last few years were that the roster was young and the mantra became, "wait until 2020 when Ehlinger is going to be a senior and 2018 class will be juniors."  Well, that year is here and the expectation was a conference championship or bust -  "bust" happened. Not only was this supposed to be Herman's year, but the conference is down with 0U breaking in a new QB.  If Herman can not do it this year, the situation will not be better next year.  To go along with this, Herman's antics, immaturity and arrogance leaves little empathy for decision makers and those who drive brinks trucks.

After the blow u loss I predicted a 6-4 season. They need a split for that now. Team may quite on hermie so 5-5 could be in the cards.

Terrible list.  It's like, ok, we dont want to be obvious mentioning Urban Meyer so lets throw four names out there.  geez

1. Graham Harrell:  seriously?  A shot in the dark turning over one of the largest, most valuable CFB programs to someone who has not been a head coach - yeah, right.

2. Gary Patterson:  Blah. I think that ship has sailed

3. Matt Campbell:  Nah. an obvious name to throw out there but, no.

4. Steve Sarkisian:  Pass.  Did he finish Alcoholic Anonymous yet?  He couldnt handle USC but someone thinks he can handle Texas?

5. Urban Meyer: oh, here we go. Someone competent AND available

I like Campbell a lot as a coach but wonder about his ability to handle the UT atmosphere and how he would recruit. He is able to coach at ISU without a lot of the off field issues that seem to be so much stronger at a place like Texas. Not an environment that every coach can handle.

He would definitely seem to be an upgrade in game prep and in game coaching to what has been here for the past decade.
The way he was interacting with the UT players after the game gives me reason that he would great recruiting here. He has to win of course or it will stop like Strong and Herman.

I havent received a phone call asking for my opinion - yet - but for discussion purposes, here is my preliminary list:

My first phone call & offer would be to...

#1 Kyle Shanahan: Offer him whatever he is making at SanFran (8 digits) and make him say no. I would prefer Kyle over Meyer. I dont think he would accept at this point but he is only averaging .466 winning percentage in the NFL and that's including the 13-3 super bowl run; so far 2019 looks like an anomaly.  I love his offenses.

#2 Urban Meyer. Just stating the obvious.

BIG gap to #3...

#3 Chris Peterson:  He was my mainstay for the Mack Brown replacement list ten years ago and he's still relatively young enough (56)

#4 Bryan Harsin:  A younger Chris Peterson disciple and already knows the Texas atmosphere.

#5 Dan Mullen: Is a favorite of about half of the Texas BMDs and likely a solid, safe choice.

My dark horse...

#6 Jeff Traylor: if they are going to go after someone that doesnt have P5 head coaching experience, why not Traylor?  I think he is a future star.  If you could get Urban Meyer while he was at Bowling Green, would you do it?  Traylor would have immediate Texas high school coach acceptance and would kill it on the recruiting trail.  Great offensive mind and if he keeps someone like Ash for DC (who is also killing it on the defensive recruiting front), he could be a huge success for a LONG time.
