I grew up in the valley where I was the minority and got bullied multiple times because I wasn’t Hispanic.
What??? I find that hard to believe.

Why? My most vivid memory was sixth grade. I was walking down a hall with one of the Chapa Twins and multiple Hispanic kids told me to leave the hall cause it was only for Mexicans. I’ve been held down and had to choose between wanting to be white or Mexican. What??? I find that hard to believe.

DBut82, because you're a friend, I'm going to say this to you.
Do not ever attempt to read The Atlantic again. It is a trash organization, a collection of activists posing as journalists. I saw the link and didn't click for that very reason.
Nothing they would say would surprise me because they will just say anything.
If you like, I am willing to dissect that story from paragraph 1–on (although I have better things to do). I would eat it up like a wolf on a lamb. Why? Because I can. If it were worth spitting on, I wouldn't be able to do that.
I realize you'll read whatever you want, but as a friend, I warn you the same as your mother did when she talked about junk food to you – "junk in, junk out."
What gets me is alot of the players I have heard making statements haven’t been here very long. I don’t want this to sound combative, but before they decide to come here they research, take multiple visits, meet all the players, meet all the coaches, tour the campus, meet professors in their field of study.........see everything and come here and then in a year or so everything is terrible. I really wonder why they came here. Is Texas perfect? No. But it is one of the top educations in the country with some of the best facilities in the country and people treat them like rock stars. I don’t think any place is going to be found to be perfect. These kids have a great chance to get a degree from The University of Texas. I would have loved to go to Texas but my parents couldn’t afford to send me there. This statement isn’t to get into a confrontation but if a kid isn’t happy here I would like to see them transfer to someplace that can make them happy. I want the kids that want to be Longhorns be here. There’s plenty of kids that would love to be here. Anyway we’ll see I guessKinda late to be drawing a line in the sand, isn't it? Hasn't UT said it would meet with students/athletes to discuss the requests?
If you're not happy here, leave. We need LB'ers but we don't need another year from Mitchell like last year (he almost left the team, but for other reasons).
We were outnumbered at least 6 to 2. Thank goodness my friends in athletics had my back and helped me out. I remember anytime in Spanish class I was made fun of multiple times cause I couldn’t roll my R’s.Hopefully one or both of the Chapa twins stood up for you.
The reason everything is changing is because of the smart phone. Back in the old days, cops could do what they want with black people and it was their fault. That's why they passed the crime bill by saying this was against super predators.@HornsUp, don't "stop". I know these conversations can get frustrating but they need to be had. It's ok if we don't all agree but I believe if we each come from a place of understanding that progress is made. @primal defense, I love hearing your views as well. I'm not the most articulate and sometimes maybe I don't get out what I'm trying to. But I appreciate you guys and everyone's views.

Rodney King showed the future since a guy from his house had a camera and recorded police beating the crap out of him. Now smart phones are recording these killings and now white people are fed up which is why 57% of Americans support Black Live Matters.
The video that really got to me was Sandra Bland five years ago.
You make a fine sponsor for Horn Sports.I don't think 50-whatever percent would support that organization if they did just a little research on them. Start with reading their manifesto, posted on their website.
Apparently, Black Lives Matter but Jews don't. Ironic that an organization existing because of racism, would itself, practice racism and make it part of their manifesto.
"Pigs in a Blanket, Fry'em Like Bacon" or "What do we want? Dead Cops. When do we want it? Now!" doesn't endear them to many folks, either.
Why? Because I responded to you? Because you didn't like it? Good gawd, get a band aid.You make a fine sponsor for Horn Sports.

Why don’t you logically address what he said rather than this? Not agreeing with the organization “black lives matter” doesn’t necessarily mean you don’t think black lives matter. You make a fine sponsor for Horn Sports.
Thank you for sharing Dr.! I truly appreciate it and understand your point.I honestly believe that EVERY race has people that don’t care and are looking for the easy way out. I grew up in the valley where I was the minority and got bullied multiple times because I wasn’t Hispanic. There were low income housing projects down there usually predominantly Hispanic. I fully agree that Black America has been held back and discriminated against. Maybe those that don’t vote are scared or they just don’t think their vote matters. My answer to your question is yes to both but for all ethnicities. I work with multiple minorities that bust their butt and try to improve themselves and I work with lazy irresponsible white people. It may be harder for a black man to succeed than a white man but it’s not impossible. Use yourself as an example, no matter how difficult the circumstances you persevered. I’m not sure I got my point across because I’m coming from my point of view. When I give evaluations and look to promote someone I don’t see skin color or sex, I look at their work ethic. Racism, hatred and prejudice are all sins that I wish we could rid ourselves of.
I totally understand DMAC! I appreciate your input as well! I don't know much, if anything about gerry mandering either but will definitely research it.I just been reading up. My brain is tired. Good night guys.
I am learning some stuff though I will admit I do know much about gerry mandering etc.
Good conversations @DBut82
Hookem.
Thanks for that link Rotty! I've always wondered if there was a website (sorta like snopes) that you could basically check the integrity of these websites. I appreciate it.I usually use https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/the-atlantic/ to see how biased or factual a website is. The atlantic seems to better than others.
