Wow, Herman made the comment that Andrew beck has been cleared and practicing for couple weeks but they can’t play him do to losing his red shirt year if they do... went on to say NCAA talkin about making a change as to where any freshman can play up to 4 games and still keep his redshirt. Which would helped right now with Beck and even a couple other CB studs he spoke about. Any thoughts? I like this idea and also Herman pretty dang wise and good a keeping it under the rug Beck was cleared to go but can’t. Unless somehow I missed that.

I've always felt that freshman should be able to play a couple of games and keep their shirt. I hope it happens

Well, talking about and doing are two different things. And I don't agree with the play 4 games and still get redshirted concept. Its either a redshirt or its not.

I missed the PC so I have to ask, was Herman talking (with regard to Beck) about a medical redshirt instead? That would make more sense.

We're going to go from rags to riches next year at TE. We'll have Leitao, an experienced and further developed Brewer, and Beck, in addition to Epps who will probably (and needs to) redshirt.

I’m not 100% sure I just know he said  he’d lose the redshirt if he played. And that Beck has said he wants to come back for the 5th year so that’s the decisions they went with.  And I did read some of @Jameson McCausland thread which was great but I like to listen to it as well. I’m a weirdo.

@Sirhornsalot I know it’s “next” year but speaking of TE do you think Beck is the starter at this position next year? Even with the experience learned this year by others? And lastly could you play 2 TE set to help the run? Don’t know if many do this but with the talent hmmmm

Beck was hurt early and is eligible for a medical redshirt. Thats why I asked.

I think you'll see all three next year in situational roles. Beck of course would be primarily a running game TE. But you throw to that TE from time to time because nobody on D believes he's getting the ball.

I really liked what I saw of Brewer this year. He's going to do great things here.

A bit off topic, but as I watched FastForward with TH last night, he mentioned that Sam learned his lesson of how/when to throw the ball away and that Sam will not make that mistake again.  I kinda scratched my head and thought, "I certainly hope so, because he has done it a few times now."

I do the same. Every. Damn. Week. LOL!  Guess I'm a weirdo as well.  I like to read the transcript and then catch the replay of the presser on LHN to get an idea of the context.

Brewer is gonna be a STUD!  David Thomas reincarnate.  Offseason will do wonders for him.  I personally think they'll be hard pressed to take him off the field next year.  I also think Warren has found his niche as well.  And while CJ will probably be our "star" WR, I think Heard will be our most efficient and consistent especially considering, Lord willing, he can actually focus the entire season at his position.  The offense will take a Herculean step forward as everyone has gained experience thru trial by fire and will be tops in the conference.   And our defense as a whole will be pretty ridiculous imo.  ESPECIALLY if the underclassmen (read Malik, Hill, Elliot) return.  I think we're in for a special season...

See for some reason I think the opposite, I think we lose all our studs at Defense and it’ll be a rebuild year on that side of the ball. Not saying we can’t run the table with the young kids we have but I don’t think it’ll be near as intense as we have been spoiled with this year. BUT I hope they all stay! And even Holton Hill comes back with his head on because he was just as big of contributed as Elliot. And lastly I believe the offense will be unbelievable next year. With all the experience this year in the line. In my mind there’s absolutely no way we don’t win 10 games. With the momentum finishing this year with 4 straight wins and 5 outta the last 6!!!

Is Brewer undergoing ACL surgery?

If Orlando comes back our defense will not be a weakness (IMO).  Think how awful it was last year with primarily the same people.  We are losing some and potentially could be losing many really good players on that side of the ball.  But great coaching does wonders.

And bravo to the DB coach as well.  D Davis has filled in admirably.  Hall, A Davis.... great job!

We have a great defensive coaching staff!
