Saturday Morning Patrick Hudson (non)update and some other notes (Updated: 11:54AM)

Cobb is an odd recruitment. His dad is apparently very anti-Texas but Cobb apparently wants to be at Texas.

I'll say this, some of the Texas players thought Cobb was in the class. But maybe Cobb's dad got his way.
To each their own.

We all want whats best for our kids, but sometimes we as parents need to get out of the way.  Ensure they have all the information they need to make an informed decision and let them make it (good or bad).  Maybe that's just me and the way I raise my kids, but I made sure they visited multiple colleges before they made their choice.  Did I have favorites, you damn straight i did (UT), but neither decided to go there.  They chose programs for them. Hell, my daughter was close to picking OU, but I would've just bit my tongue and helped her move in.

Our depth chart at DB is pretty intimidating. Unless you're a total badass you likely won't see much of the field for the next three years. When all else is equal choosing Texas as a DB in this class is a seriously confident move. We'll see how Parish (or his dad) feels about it.

Cobb threw the coaches a curve ball. He was in Austin last night and multiple players on the team were telling people it would get done. He and Hudson have kept people guessing

Football Brainiacs is reporting that Cobb wants to be at Texas, but his dad wants him at OU.

That seems to be the issue. During his initial recruitment Baylor was apparently the compromise.

This whole thing is really crazy. My wife is taking me out for my birthday and I'm sitting here trying to track these stories
First off, Happy birthday! I hope you have a great day.

Second, getting Hudson or Cobb would be gravy. Don't get me wrong, I would love to have either or both. Bottom line is that the already strong 2016 UT class is stronger than it was this time last week. They got an instant game changer at a skill position, got oline depth, and an athlete to mold. Horns are sitting pretty right now. With that said, I still want Hudson.

It needs to be a strong as possible for Strong to be able to turn it around as quickly as several feel they can demand it be done.

Higdon is saying Cobb left but tried to come back today to meet with Strong. Apparently, Strong moved on.

Not sure what to believe.

Higs still sounds positive regarding Hudson

Per Higs:

I might be the only person who covers Texas recruiting who is not worried about Patrick Hudson....but, that is just how I feel sir."

I'm not a pessimist, but that can't be a good sign. Unless he was driving back from OU and they almost hit a Longhorn.
I wouldn't read anything into 17 and 18 year old tweets. They tweet this type stuff all the time. It could literally mean anything.

i have this awful feeling we get patrick and a typical convo goes something like this:

now, you are planning to show up for this game aren't you, patrick?

coach, this is the game i've been waiting my whole life for.

Unprecedented to say the very least.  If Hudson commits to UT, the Horns would have landed (2) starters, (1) potential starter and (1) special teams contributor to the roster if projected 1-3 years.  That's unheard of in the month of June.  Charlie Strong and his staff have done an incredible job as this would still be a positive reflection of these players original recruitment and the impression UT made at that time.  Hook em!
