OU was whipping Texas every year with an offense they copied from Texas (the Wishbone)
You do know that DKR is the one who showed ou how to run it trying to save Bud's job (his old coach). Barry Switzer was the OC who he taught it to.

IMO, 7-8

It'd be nice if we do it without any embarrassing performances like last year's ND, TCU, and Iowa St. I just wanna see a consistent game plan on offense, stronger run defense, and good special teams. Compete every game
I'll settle for this.

7-5 sucks to me and it would probably be borderline if Strong would be back with that record. It would make him 18-19 over 3 yrs.   8-4 barely moves the needle for me too.

re: Irv Smith --

Irvin Smith Sr. had some kind of ties to both Bama and aggy

We could never win him over (he lives in Ariz.)

Irv, Jr canceled our in-home while our coaches were already on the road in the state of LA

We were none too happy about that

So if you ever see the dad, feel free to kick him in the nads for me
Won't be that funny when his kid is riding bench for 2-3 years.

And umm can someone please explain to me what was the situation between New some and Daylon Mack?

Coach was asked about the new running back coach during his post NSD conference and he said he was going to give the current coaches a couple of days off and then they would address the open position.

Alright guys, realistically speaking how many wins do you think this team gets this season?
Home schedule is favorable. Host ND to open. Host Baylor in the 8th game, time to develop over the season. Same for TCU, at home, the final game. WVA at home also, a late season game.

Road obstacles at Ok State first half of season. Later at K-State for usual trap game that it is. Worse when it is late Nov and at night. But this one is Oct. 22.

If... big IF... get by Notre Dame and by Cal on the third game, a road game, sets up having to deal with a revenge game from OU. Get by all that and the Gilbert offense and newer defense could be in place well enough to win out.

I do not know enough about all the teams reloading, what the QB situations are, and so forth. If the team is good enough to win key games, it will be good enough to win many if not all the games. But always there's a bad day at black rock. Last year only one major ran the table.

How about 11-1 or 10-2, and taking the conference!  Loses to one of the Oklahoma teams, both are away from DKR and are the 4th and 5th games, so with ND, have to ready to play all five games through OU. No time to figure things out.

But if Gilbert's offense does, and special teams, penalities, flip of coins, handling the clock, can all be figured out by then... it's there to win the rest of them, getting Baylor and TCU both at home. Could Tech on the road be a thorn? it's there, Nov. 5th.

I know almost only counts with horseshoes and hand grenades but we almost won 8 games with a horrible offense, and extremely young secondary. It didnt help that our best players on defense were freshmen as well.

Now common sense would tell me that ANYTHING would be better then what Watson put together. We upgraded at every position and the players with talent have a season of experience behind them.

I am predicting 9-10 wins.
