This seems like overkill to me.

Its my understanding Southall by most standards is rated lowest of the 5 and he is announcing 7:30.

What are the chances we land Southall then 15 minutes later land Daniels and Taylor.

That would be great but what are the odds Elliott and Giles possibly reconsider since we now have 4 DT's?  Giles has been consistent about playing time.  Giles would probably earn it regardless since he is a beast but I wonder if could hurt us for the 2 better DT's announcing later.

Thoughts?
At this point we just need the numbers and we have to take whoever wants

to jump on board.

We're not good enough (yet) to turn ANYBODY away at any position.

I would also like to think that Strong & company have addressed

any concerns that anybody might have at this point.

Hook Em!

BIG update from LSU247 on Erick Fowler and D'Andre Christmas-Giles

I can tell you this: Bradley Dale Peveto has been working his phone non-stop on Erick Fowler. I spoke with someone in his family who told me Peveto “has been amazing†through Fowler’s recruitment and “has been very honest the whole wayâ€. That family has really grown to trust him, and then they fell in love with Dave Aranda on the in-home and official visits. They really feel he can take Erick’s game to the next level. And from talking to a family member, playing at LSU is Erick’s dream. And right now they are telling him to live out that dream. And it’s not just pressure from his mom or family to stay home. I’m told what weighs on him equally is all the kids at school begging him to flip, the people in the community constantly hounding him, etc. Members of his family, and of course the LSU staff, are telling him to just be strong and follow what he wants. I’m moving above 50-50 and say LSU is probably ahead here 60-40 with 24 hours left. I should know more on things later today.

I expect D’Andre Christmas-Giles to land with Texas on Wednesday. He will have LSU and TCU hats on the table, but I think it’s the Longhorns. I have been told they already have a silent commitment from the St. Augustine product.

This "big update" came straight from Fowler's Aunt. I would bet money.

Ten signing day decisions to watch in the Big 12

With national signing day less than 24 hours away, here are 10 recruits considering Big 12 schools that are worth keeping an eye on. Know these names, because each one is facing a big decision on what should another drama-filled decision day.

1. S Brandon Jones: The No. 1 recruiting battle in the state of Texas comes down to Baylor, Texas and Texas A&M. The Aggies were the longtime favorite for the ESPN 300 safety from Nacogdoches, Texas. Then the Longhorns jumped ahead late. After Jones took his final visit to BU, this looks like a true toss-up and it’s possible Jones is just as unsure as everybody else. He’ll announce Wednesday morning on ESPNU. Whoever signs the East Texas star is getting a playmaker who’ll make an immediate impact in 2016.

2. OLB Caleb Kelly: The stud linebacker from Fresno, California, will be one of the last big-name recruits to decide Wednesday -- he’s scheduled to announce at 7:30 p.m. CT -- and has a tough decision between Oklahoma and Notre Dame. The Sooners appear to have a slight lead for the No. 7-ranked recruit in California, and Kelly would complete a terrific linebacker class that features Texas A&M flip Mark Jackson, juco transfers Emmanuel Beal and Kapri Doucet and potentially Bryce Youngquist, the longtime ESPN 300 commit whose situation is a bit uncertain at the moment.
Landing receiver Tyrie Cleveland would be key for TCU, which will need help at the position in 2016 with Josh Doctson and Kolby Listenbee moving on. Miller Safrit/ESPN

3. WR Tyrie Cleveland: ESPN’s No. 4-rated receiver has already made two pledges -- first to Texas A&M, then Houston -- and he might make one more on signing day. Cleveland is still contemplating a last-minute flip to TCU, Florida or Arkansas and just got back from a visit to Gainesville. With Josh Doctson and Kolby Listenbee moving on, the Frogs sure could use another instant difference-maker like Cleveland at receiver.

4. OLB Jeffrey McCulloch: Texas is emerging as the heavy favorite for the Aldine (Texas) Davis linebacker, but he could still have a change of heart and end up signing with Notre Dame, Stanford or Texas A&M when he announces live on ESPNU. McCulloch moved up to No. 26 in the final ESPN 300 after impressing at the Under Armour All-American Game and would get to contribute right away, just like Malik Jefferson did in 2015.

5. ILB Brendan Ferns: The ESPN 300 linebacker from St. Clairsville, Ohio, is down to West Virginia and Penn State, and his announcement will be made early Wednesday morning. The Mountaineers should be feeling very good about this one. He’s got a bunch of family ties to West Virginia, starting with the fact that his brother, Michael Ferns, plays for WVU. The younger Ferns is the nation’s No. 7 inside linebacker prospect.

6. RB Kyle Porter: Porter has kept quiet throughout this process -- he’s not on Twitter like the rest of his peers -- and it’s not easy to get a read on his plans. We do know TCU, Texas and Arkansas are the finalists and there’s a growing sense that the Horned Frogs are in front for the prolific back. He’s the No. 2-rated back in Texas and would be a great get for a TCU class that already has prolific three-star RB Darius Anderson.

7. WR Audie Omotosho: TCU, Oklahoma State, UCLA and SMU are the finalists for the ESPN 300 wideout from Plano (Texas) East, and good luck guessing who’s in the lead. The Bruins got his final visit. The Cowboys only have one receiver commit (Tyrell Alexander). SMU made him its No. 1 receiver target and would play him early and often. And then there’s TCU, which might not need him if Cleveland signs.

8. DT Chris Daniels: The ESPN 300 defensive tackle backed out on Oklahoma and reopened his recruitment a few weeks ago after taking an official visit to Texas. While he’s still considering the Sooners, this is looking more like another battle between Texas and Texas A&M. Daniels might be leaning toward UT but did take his final visit to College Station. He’s one of the four or five defensive tackles the Longhorns could end up signing this week.

9. DB Parrish Cobb: An Oklahoma-Baylor battle developed in recent weeks for Cobb, who’s been committed to the Sooners since August. The three-star corner from Waco (Texas) La Vega is seriously considering signing with his hometown school, though, and took an official visit to BU over the weekend. Cobb enjoyed a big senior year and now faces a big decision.

10. QB Keondre Wudtee: The three-star quarterback from Bossier City, Louisiana, emerged on the radar late when Oklahoma State offered in December and TCU joined the mix in January. The former Louisiana Tech commit, who threw for 3,466 yards and 34 scores as a senior, will choose between those two Wednesday morning. The Pokes probably need him more after losing QB commit Nick Starkel to Texas A&M.

Jeremy Crabtree 5 Bold predictions

1. Texas will be the team of the day

With LSU essentially having the best class already locked up -- and it’ll be officially cemented when ESPN 300 cornerback Kristian Fulton announces for the Tigers Wednesday -- there's not a lot of mystery surrounding the top spot. But there’s certainly been some angst with the folks in Austin waiting for Charlie Strong’s Texas Longhorns to make their recruiting run. Texas enters signing day with the 33rd-ranked class, a spot that Texas hasn’t been in the modern era of recruiting, but the Horns won’t be there by the time Wednesday is over. Texas will close with at least four ESPN 300 recruits and could even finish with five or six. The headliner in the bunch will be ESPN 300 outside linebacker Jeffrey McCulloch, but ESPN 300 defensive tackles Jordan Elliott, Chris Daniels and Stephon Taylor will be nice additions, too. The remarkable Texas run should be more than enough to put the Longhorns on the top-10 national ranking bubble./QUOTE]

I don't understand why he would want to play for Phil Bennetts sorry ass defense
Yes, whoever came up with this idea that Baylor was somehow a 'compromise' between ou (what dad wants) and Texas (what Parrish wants) may have come up with the second dumbest opinion I have ever read (was it a HS poster?)

It makes no sense.  It is irrational.

The answer is easy.  The kid gets to make the call.  It's his life.  (and, yes, same goes for Fowler)
