Sonny Cumbie and Texas

Next on the Christmas List....This guy on the sideline standing next to Strong and Pat Moorer cant help but give our kids confidence

I just saw this. From Jeremy Clark a few hours ago on the TCU 247 site

Just reporting the latest...I was told that Cumbie has not made a decision and a decision is likely not going to happen today.

Obviously doesn't mean he's turned down Texas, just relaying that he will likely not decide today. As stated earlier, Texas has not given him a deadline.

FWIW, Chip Brown is saying Strong would like an answer from Cumbie before visiting Shane on Wednesday.

Strong would undoubtedly like to have a new offensive coordinator by the time he makes a scheduled in-home visit on Wednesday with Texas commit Shane Buechele, Scout's No. 1 QB in the state for 2016, and no later than this weekend.

I bet we find out if Cumbie is go or not by end of the day tomorrow.  Im waffling on whether Gilbert is the better choice anyways.

I would be happy with either.

Per Taylor Gaspar:

" A religious man, Cumbie was unable to consistently attend Sunday church services with his family while in Lubbock.

But that changed when he accepted the position at TCU.

Patterson not only assured him that he would be able to spend Sunday’s worshipping with his family, Cumbie was also allowed to have his family present in TCU's football facilities whenever possible, according to sources.

These two requests were very significant factors that played a role in Cumbie taking his family to Fort Worth, and quite possibly, could be important in his decision to accept a job with the Longhorns."

Seems to be in conflict with his desire, stated elsewhere, to make it to the NFL.

This is what a poster on the TCU 247 board said about UT in the Cumbie thread. F TCU

I totally disagree with the lack of talent at UT. They have huge talent, what they don't have is drive, character and toughness.

They squander amazingly gifted athletes every year, over promise recruits, and the 5*s are self entitled and selfish. They all want to wear the Cow on their helmet, and go to "THE" University of Texas, but what happens when they get there?

How did J Gray suddenly forget how to run the football? (It was before the injury), and all the kids we miss on that go there as 4* and 5* but leave ut as 1* or 2* athletes?

Its a cultural thing, just as the blue collar attitude our kids have, is a cultural thing.

That place is cancer. And I cant see who can come in there and clean it up... the kids there are already infected.

Butthurt about possibly losing Cumbie.

Numerous posts on TCU boards crying about matching his offer and making sure they keep Cumbie or Meacham.

Someone at TCU stating they are blue collar makes me laugh. I know what the tuition is at both places and let me tell you, if you're blue collar, you ain't sending your kid to TCU. In fact, you can send 2 kids to Texas and have money left over vs sending 1 kid to TCU.

Now the part about entitlement USED to be true, but we have us a new sheriff in town!

I doubt Strong is going to interview Gilbert - he already offered the job to Cumbie and likely won't interview anyone else until Cumbie declines.

Also, Strong will be in Michigan tomorrow to do an in-home visit with ILB David Reese.
