MB, if I've learned nothing else from this board, I've learned you are a glass half full guy. Keep the faith my friend. And, heck, Strong is a very good football coach.

I can get excited about Strong. We need to have faith in Patterson. Remember Clutch City? That was awesome.

The whole "Texas may not be the job he think it is" gets me every time.

1. Some really don't want to do everything that is required at a place like Texas. Hell think about Notre Dame and how many truly big names went there? Places like Texas ND, etc. are more than a coaching job. Not everyone wants to deal with that.

2. Some are truly happy where they are. Sometimes the best job is the one where you are happy and don't have the unnecessary pressure.

3. We are smack dab in the middle of bowl and NFL playoff season. Could not be a worse time to try and get the big names.

4. Just because you don't hear coaches calling us, does not mean it is not happening. Insiders hear a lot of good information, but don't always get all the information. Patterson is a perfect example.

5. If we hire a guy like Strong, it does not mean we "settled". Not saying I want Strong, as I have him down my list. However he may very well be the perfect fit, we don't know. There is no "sure" thing period.

I think Saban announces Jan 6th to upstage Auburn one last time. Think we're all seeing a lot of smoke and thar this deal is done.

It's all a matter of perspective. Any of the coaches being talked about have been better than what we've had over the last four years.

I believe the AD has already selected who he wants as the new HC and that new HC has already selected his coaches to come. I also believe that a lot of what's being said about all these different coaches is smoke to protect the coach that has been selected. If it were Strong , IMO we would already heard that he is the new HC. I'm hoping for a Huge splash to help keep recruits we have and also to help lean others our way. I'd like to see Saban come , but I also understand he is a Legend in Alabama . I also understand we don't know any issues he may have had there. Hook'em Horns !!!

Several staff members here have said their sources are hearing Saban. & I support them & their sources. I would love Saban to come to Texas he is my first choice but I have idea who it will be..

By your own prediction we were certainly 3 to 5 years away from a solid football team from Strong's hiring. You predicted six and six and then perhaps five and seven. My question is since we are on pace to meet your prediction why are you so down on Strong? Your prediction was based on not knowing who the new coach would be.

It is based on my eyeball test. I just don't see any improvement since August. It is not necessarily about wins and losses right now. We are getting blown out by subpar teams at an alarming rate.
