Oh Aggy.

I'm always amused when those dipshits aggy mocks Mack Brown's tenure at UT. Should we have won a couple more Big12 championships? Probably, but averaging 10 wins per year for a decade was pretty damn cool.

aggy does it once and they still act like they're defending National Champions
They did it once against these teams, which makes it even more hysterical. SMU (7-6), South Carolina State (who is that?, 5-6), Arkansas (4-8), Ole Miss (7-6, a team we beat by 35 that year), Auburn (3-9), Miss. State (8-5), Sam Houston State (11-4, but LMAO), Missouri (5-7).

8 of A&M's 11 wins in '12 were against nobodies. They beat decent OU and LA Tech teams, but neither were great that year. Hell, OU fans will tell you their '12 team was terrible. A&M and really Sumlin's entire tenure is built on one upset in '12 over Alabama.

That's why the entire mystique of A&M was always a fraud. They had a once in lifetime players in Manziel/Evans, and beat a bunch of nobodies.

Played in a golf tournament, in Georgia, a few weeks ago.  There were a slew of SEC grads playing and we got to talking about aggy at supper.  It appears the SEC is already getting a belly full of aggy - big time.

Topics discussed with scorn and disdain:

Why all male cheerleaders?  Are they gay?

Standing during the game has pissed them all off and caused more than a few fights.

All they talk about is UT - did we steal their girlfriends?

They brag like they have won something.

All they talk about is Manziel and how they beat Bammy.

I say they deserve each other. And I couldn't be happier.

The most aggy thread ever on college football reddit. Some of the comments from other fanbases are hilarious.
https://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comment...bout/?sort=new

"Despite Baylor and TCU having more success last season, and Baylor being more successful over the past two seasons, Texas A&M is the premiere program in the state.
It's more than just wins and losses. A&M first of all is set to lead the nation in attendance this year. That's big, and our fanbase is massive. We also just signed a multi million dollar deal with Adidas. A&M plays on national TV each week, sometimes on CBS, which translates into a lot of eyeballs and TV ratings making them a national brand.
Then there is recruiting. We continue to dominate recruiting rankings which validates what our program has become and shows that recruits want to be here. I feel like recruiting is HUGE when it comes to the influence and footprint of a program, because it either validates or rejects what your program is. The fact that we are doing so well in recruiting PROVES that our program is a big one that the best want to be associated with. If Baylor and TCU were truly marquee programs they would be pulling in the state's top recruits.
Baylor and TCU may have had 11 and 12 win seasons, conference titles, and played in a big bowl, but they aren't A&M. They don't have the fanbase, they don't have the attendance, they don't play on the big networks and have the TV ratings and aren't big TV draws which makes them a regional brand at best. They also lack the recruiting pull that A&M has.
I would compare it to the iPhone. Texas A&M is the iPhone - a big brand. We always hear about how new phones are "iPhone Killers" but never kill the iPhone. While these iPhone killers may be more impressive pieces of technology that are more powerful and functional, the iPhone still outsells them big time. Baylor and TCU are those iPhone killers. They may be better on the field, but in the big picture, adding in factors like attendance and recruiting and TV ratings, they don't stack up. Texas A&M is the brand name.
I'd rather win 8 games every year and yet be tops in the nation in attendance, recruiting, and national recognition, than win 11 games and have limited appeal. It's more about wins/losses, its about the program's footprint as a whole which is more than just wins and losses."

aggy logic at its finest.

BTW, J.B. TexasEx, in addition to spelling it "a-g-g-y" and "a-g-g-y-s," you never ever capitalize it even at the beginning of a sentence.

Thanks for the tips.

I thought "aggy" was both singular and plural?

Hook 'em!

Two things to pass along. First of all, a good collection of pics to use in various posts or to just share with friends is this one. http://www.utexasclan.com/photos/ Evidently the site owner hasn't updated the collection in a few years, but that is fine, because many of these are classics and have fallen out of circulation.

The second item is the new aggy website touting their "12th Man" tradition. The site is done by the university and the content is entirely their responsibility. Most on this site remember the shout out to Hornsports in the Wall Street Journal article back in Feb 2014 when the WSJ writer used the story published on Hornsports that debunked the aggy story about the tradition starting back in 1922.

The aggy website can be found here   http://12thman.tamu.edu/?utm_source=texags&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=12thmanLaunch&utm_content=TexagsPostMondayPM

The Hornsports article debunking the aggy story can be found here. http://www.hornsports.com/articles/featured1395317068/texas-am-and-the-12th-man-the-story-of-th-r3866

The blog copy of the WSJ article can be found here http://www.vocabulary.com/articles/wordroutes/the-twelfth-man-a-football-phrase-with-disputed-roots/

The pdf copy of the WSJ page is attached below.

The aggy website touting their 12th Man claims is as blatantly dishonest as anything the university has put out in memory and it is embarrassing for an institution of higher education to be as dishonest as TAMU is being here. The outright lie is a lie of omission where they leave out the fact there was no connection between E. King Gill and the school's 12th Man tradition until the fictionalized radio play where he was standing alone on the sideline was written in 1939. Below is part of a Dallas Morning News article from April 15, 1964 where Gill himself explains this. The article was an interview in the lead up to Gill's 1964 muster speech on the aggy campus on April 21, 1964. That speech is linked to in the Hornsports article and in that speech Gill also explains the school's 12th Man tradition was created from a fabricated radio show in 1939.

If anyone has any good media contacts, feel free to share all this info with them and encourage them to look into what I believe to be one of the most blatant examples of intellectual dishonesty and lack of academic integrity that has been produced from a public university in decades. It is an outright fraud.

You are the bane of aggy, Duke. Thanks!
A lie of omissionis still a lie. The university developed that website and there can be no doubt the individuals responsible for its content were well aware of Gill's own words explaining there was no real "12th Man" tradition on the aggy campus prior to 1939.

To be, it is telling that a major university would exhibit such intellectual dishonest and sacrifice the institution's academic integrity to promote it football team. There are many ways a university can sacrifice on the quality of its academics because of a misplaced importance on its athletics program and intentionally lying as the aggys are obviously doing unquestionably is an example of exactly that.

When the senior administrators of a public university are willing to lie to the public and threaten to use the force of law to make money from their lies, something is wrong. What the aggys are doing is wrong on so many levels.
