Cherry exit? (The Chexit)

So there is a guy who says Cecil is sitting in their 10 am class today

(note, I obviously have no way of knowing if this is true, just passing it along)

When I went to practice I did see Cecil getting berated by coaches and actually taken out of scrimmages and sat for some one I have never seen (he had a yellow jersey in his pocket, so he's either on punt return or scout team). Cherry is not having as easy of a time as he would like at Texas is my guess, compounded with people telling him to leave, and Football just being a very taxing game both mentally, physically, and emotionally and Cecil is a very emotional person. I love Cherry's firey passion and IF he leaves it'll be a shame, BUUUUUUT it's still a big "if" so we just have to wait and see.

".... We're told there are a couple of factors in play here, one being that Cherry didn't get the jersey number that he wanted. He wanted No. 3 but got No. 52 instead.

A bigger cause for concern appears to be the fact that fellow freshman Malik Jefferson is getting snaps ahead of him at middle linebacker.

It came as a surprise to many that Jefferson has lined up at middle linebacker with the first team defense. He wasn't projected to play MLB. So this probably came as a surprise to Cherry and, as sources have told us, his frustration has grown.

You also have to take into consideration that Cherry is from a small town in Florida [Frost Proof] who could be home sick at the moment.

Cherry, the No. 21 MLB in the country for the class of 2015, wears his heart on his sleeve. He wants to be great. He continuously talked about coming in from Day 1 and being a difference maker on this roster and being one of the guys that was going to help Texas turn things around.

Nothing is set in stone yet. Texas head coach Charlie Strong still needs to speak with Cherry about all of this. He knows linebackers as well as anyone and his ability to relate to players is one of the main reasons he's been so successful as a head coach. It's one of the key reasons why he got Cherry to flip commitments from Tennessee to Texas.

Nonetheless, this news has come as a surprise to those tied into the program. Now they'll have to see if they can talk Cherry into staying and letting him know that he figures to be a big part of this defense moving forward, both this season and beyond."

That makes it sound like a done deal.

And, on top of this, I was reading another site and one of the mods indicated that there was a non-true freshman who is quite unhappy right now with things. Said he played offense. Just passing that along.
My guess is it's one of the WRs recently moved to TE; Gray or Oliver, but that's just speculation

Saw that too but they are advising it not be publicly discussed for now

I love how some "insiders" don't bother to learn about the people they are supposedly covering. Homesick with his brother also on the team? Sounds a bit questionable.

"Born in Frostproof, Fla. ... parents are Winston Cherry and Tami Flint ... member of the honor roll as a senior in high school ... has three brothers who play college football - Chris Nelson (a redshirt freshman defensive lineman at UT)..."

I just got off the phone with a source very close to Cherry and his family, this is what I was told:

– Cherry’s father and Cecil spoke to Charlie Strong this morning, who agreed to grant Cherry a release. I am told they expect to receive the release by this Friday.

– The source said Cherry is in the process of booking a flight to return home this Saturday. And that, as it stands right now, unless there is a drastic change of heart by Cherry and his family, Cecil will be transferring.

– The source went into the reasons behind the transfer, but preferred that we not report on it. I can say, however, that all was fine with Cherry up until fall camp. In other words, this is not an issue of a young player who is homesick or anything of the sort. In fact, I’m told that Cherry adjusted well to Austin and had a great bond with the both S&C staff and his teammates. This is a recent issue that came up in fall camp. http://texas.thefootballbrainiacs.com/2015/08/ut-texas-longhorns-football-cecil-cherry-expected-to-transfer/

I'm sure there's more than 1 non-freshman a little frustrated right now. Sounds like a lot of the FR have come in and stole their reps.

This isn't Mack Brown anymore where Sally brings cookies to practice. Come ready to grind or get your butt out of the program.

The weird thing about the Suchomel report (offensive player, not a freshman) is that he and Anwar write for the same site.

If that's true, then why did he go to class today?

Or, maybe the question is - did someone lie about seeing him in class?

Yea, I love it when they do that. Post something and then tell people not to talk about. Makes a lot of sense.

If the mod who posted that didn't want it discussed he should have kept his f---ing mouth shut.
