aggie's defense is not elite and won't be anytime soon despite hiring Chavis

Aggies somehow think Chavis is going to miraculously turn around their defense in one year. Anyone with common football knowledge can tell you that A&M has serious issues on defense.
1-Chavis' system is dependent on press man cover corners. A&M's secondary is terrible (go search gifs of their best corner Devante Harris). A&M's corners were burned deep continuously last year and that was with safety help. Now they are going to be on an island under Chavis. Either Chavis won't be able to play his style of defense for a few years or A&M will be giving up 50 yard bombs in the passing game every possession.
2-Their starting LB core looks like it will be Washington, Alaka, and Walker. Alaka and Walker have a career 60 tackles, combined. They are terribly inexperienced at LB. Not to mention Washington is coming off an injury in 2014. If either of those 3 LBers are injured they will be in serious trouble.
3-Myles Garrett is a stud, but overrated IMO. He has an instinct for sacking the QB but he's not great against the run. Alabama did exactly what you should do, run right at Garrett. Outside of Garrett I don't think A&M has much on the defensive line. Daylon Mack has potential but if you are reliant on a true freshman at DT you are going to be screwed.

Another thing about Myles Garrett. 8 out of 11.5 sacks came against Rice, Lamar and LA Monroe.

There are eight returning SEC players who had more sacks against Power 5 teams than Myles Garrett. Some of them, such as Derek Barnett (10 sacks vs. P5 opponents), are even in Garrett's class.
I love pointing that out.
