As we all know, UT is full of students who enjoy staying active and playing competitive sports, especially through non-Varsity Club Sport competitions. As everyone here cares about all things UT and supporting our students, I wanted to start a thread about those that give up their own time and money in order to play a sport they love. I only know about a couple of Club teams at the moment, but if anyone has information regarding another UT Club team that they would like to share, please do!
I first wanted to mention UT's Ultimate Frisbee teams, both Men's and Women's. I play plenty of Ultimate Frisbee here in Houston and I enjoy keeping up with what is going on in the highest levels of competition. This weekend is the College national championships, and both teams have qualified for the umpteenth time in a row. For as long as I have been following, both teams seem to qualify for nationals every year. This year, Texas TUFF (Men's) comes in seeded 13th and Texas Melee (Women's) comes in seeded 19th. Should either team make the final four, the semifinals games will be aired live on ESPN3 and replayed on tape delay on ESPN2. Texas Fight!
(In case y'all are at all curious about Ultimate Frisbee, here's a highlight video from Will Driscoll, UT's senior captain from last year and finalist for the Callahan award for best player in the country.)
I'm sure y'all have heard about the UT Quidditch team (yup, I said it, Quidditch, like, from Harry Potter.) Anyway, this has become a pretty popular Club sport around the country....and as it happens, we're pretty good at it. I have a friend who plays on the team, and UT this year won their THIRD STRAIGHT national championship, with the added pleasure of beating an undefeated A&M team in the semi-finals! They also had multiple players invited to play on Team USA for international competition. LHN did a short feature on them not too long ago:

Hey...if we're gonna do something, might as well be the best at it, right?
