Texas vs Iowa State - Big 12 tourney QF

Barnes cannot recruit or coach a team capable of winning the Big 12, or even 2nd or 3rd. Sad, but true.

If we are to have a winner, we need to put the resources behind it. New coach, great facilities. If we don't, we will continue to be mediocre.

I concur.

I think he has shown he can recruit them well enough to consistently beat all teams in the B12 but KU

But his results never equal the sum of the parts

So, from my perspective, that makes him a better recruiter than coach

Hoiberg makes for an interesting and timely contrast

He has a system, recruits to that system, then coaches them up as best he can within the system -- The results are generally that his teams outperform expectations.  IMO, this makes him a nice P5 parallel to some of the better mid-major guys out there

I heard tamu talking about Avery Johnson if they let Kennedy go. Any thoughts on him as a replacement.

I'd like to see us make a run at the Wichita State coach, Marshall. He gets a lot out of his talent.

I highly doubt that ya'll will get left out. I would be thrilled with Avery Johnson or Mike White of La Tech, but Kennedy just got re-upped before the season, and our performance this year was about what most expected.

I dont like the play-in either, buuuuuuuut .......

11 is much better than an 8/9 and opposite UK
so you'd rather play an extra game for the right to play a 6-seed vs playing an 8-seed right from the start. worried about UK? it's not like we're gonna win this thing. i say bring 'em on!

Yes.

This is just in case we get on a roll.  A 3 seed looks a lot better than Kentucky

We get past the 3 seed then who knows?  The worst that might lie out there next is the 2.  In which case we are still avoiding UK.  And, if its not the 2, then we know its a 7, 10 or 15.  So, despite the extra game, this is the preferred path.

And, if we lose the first game (most likely outcome?), none of it matters.

Kentucky is far from unbeatable. They ran the table in a terrible basketball conference and were tested in a 3rd of those games. They have gotten better as the season has went on.To be the best you have to beat the best and Texas matches up well with Kentucky and took them to the wire earlier in the season.
