2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

I too wish someone could explain it. My guess is it was Kyler Murray.
Like I said above - I think it has more to do with the fact that Mack was solid with Aggie for a year before spending the last moth looking around.  At the end of the day he can go back to Aggy and get playing time right away for a coaching staff he knows pretty well and play next to one of the best young DE's in college football.

And he gets a barbershop in his lockerroom and a DJ on the practice field.

Swag.

Yep, having Mack in our hands then losing him is tough.  He is a beast.  I hate the idea they might get it together on defense.

In any event, although this is tough to say, we needed a QB even more and got one.  A 4-star dual-threat with a dad who not only is also a coach but a college OC

Kai + Warren > Mack

And that is my official position

I agree - but it hurts because there is nothing preventing us from taking all three.

This thread needs to die.  It deserves to limp through NSD, but the 'catch-all' nature of it made it nearly impossible to follow if you wanted recruiting news.  At some point it turned into a 'chat session' rather than a recruiting thread.

No criticism, I've loved it and made a metric crap-ton of OT posts in it, but if people (me) want to chat they need to start an OT thread rather than in the 2016 recruit thread.
Disagree HipHop.  The very nature of this thread as a catch all has driven traffic and fomented discussions that just would not happen if you scattered the convo's across multiple threads.  Don't discount that just because it is chaotic.  I for one have enjoyed being able to read this thread like an RSS feed daily to catch up on everything that I might have missed throughout the day.

If the Mack rumblings are true, we'll see two players commit, de-commit, and re-commit in the same cycle (Burt and Mack). I'm not sure I've seen such a thing before - usually a decommit is a pretty big hurdle to overcome.

That said, if Mack wants to go over to that nothingness of a defense more power to him. The UT class looks filthy on the defensive side of the ball and with the Locksley news it's not looking too shabby on offense either. CFS has put together a great class with or without Mack.
The key for any recruit moving forward is to be able to make the transition from high school classes and being the focus of campus attention to college level classes and no longer being the best player on the team. At aggy, one can bet money Mack will be enrolled as an "Agricultural Leadership" or "Poultry Science" major. While UT also has its "less than rigorous" majors, nothing on the UT campus approaches the fluff and senselessness aggy has to offer as majors. Also, the aggy cult of personality worship will unquestionably better serve someone who has a constant need for attention. At Texas, any freshman football player claiming to be the messiah of the program would be scoffed at.

The reality is that Mack may well have looked at the various factors and made the right decision for him. Charlie Strong and Kevin Sumlin are absolutely two different coaches. We have seen that Sumlin is light years ahead of Strong in keeping grade risks and character risks eligible to play and on the field. I"m not saying that Mack is either, but playing for Sumlin removes both those issues from the list of concerns for any player.

The recruits have mostly done their homework. Mack knows Teddy Bridgwater was named NFL Rookie of the Year and Johnny Manziel is in rehab. No one is kidding anyone about whether Sumlin or Strong better prepares players for the NFL. They know what they are signing on for when they sign to play for Kevin Sumlin.

I think overall Strong and his coaching staff did a damn good job with bringing in the prospects that he had ..from where he started from December he threw down the gauntlet and let everyone know about it..

The format of the recruiting thread will change after NSD. I wouldn't expect another 600+ page 2016 Recruiting Thread next year. Rather a more polished week to week/month to month kind of thread. JG hit it on the mark when he talked about how extensive these threads can be on servers and etc. Not to mention, as much as I love this thread, try finding a post of yours from early last week without digging for an upwards of 15 to 20 minutes. HS will make their moves to keep us just as engaged as this thread has without putting the additional strain on the servers that this thread unlikely has. Not to mention, it will give us a great chance to focus more on the great in-depth/focus pieces that the recruiting analysts here put out. And it will cut out a lot of the OT posts this thread became littered with in it's late run.

Texas still in it for Reed

The Longhorns are not out of the mix for junior college wide receiver Dominique Reed.

Horns247 caught up with the juco All-American wide out, and he said Texas is still in the mix after it extended him a formal offer Monday.

Reed is down to Arizona State, Auburn, Arkansas and Texas, and he said he will make his final decision sometime Tuesday.

“It’s a hard decision,†Reed said. “I’m not sure yet what I’m going to do, I’ve just got to figure out what’s best with me.â€

Reed said he’s not leaning any particular direction at the moment, and he will take the coming hours to discuss the decision with his family at home.

A 6-foot-4, 185-pound Arkansas native, Reed is rated as the No. 56 overall Juco player and the No. 9 wide receiver according to the 247Sports Composite.

And should only get better moving forward

These guys do work hard, that much is self-evident

(I was gon add something about Mack Brown here but changed my mind.  Heh)

Lewis might delay announcement so he can take another OV

We will see
That would be a pleasant turn of events.  Everything I've read/seen has him as a suberb athlete who is a raw DB right now.  Legit 4-star though and not someone usually hanging around with nowhere to go on NSD.  Would be nice to get him on campus.
