After a weekend of hunting and being behind on all the news with recruiting and the Norvell hire...Man it's great to be able to catch up on all this. I, too would like to think all of you who are putting in the time to stay on top of it all!

Just a few comments on what has transpired:

1. I really had a feeling that Irvin was going to go elsewhere. He didn't seem to be all in on Texas. He seemed to make a hasty decision and I just had a gut feeling that with each day that passed he was leaning further towards Auburn.

2. I would be very surprised if Davis follows Irvin to Auburn. I just feel he really likes what Texas has to offer. Anything can happen but I think he stays with us.

3. I like the Norvell hire. It was odd to wrap my head around hiring an O-Who assistant but I really like his approach and energy. I think he adds fire to the coaching staff and fits in great with what CS is doing.

4. I have no idea how we finish this recruitment out, however, I think we still have some surprises ahead.

and in addition to what you just said there as well odell the norvell hire hopefully will give us a bigger push in landing Newsome since now he eliminated Tennessee ..It's down between Texas and UCLA as the finalist...and he announces his committment on Friday

My question is if Newsome commits to UT this week, do we take Burt and two WR's. I'd rather we take one WR and at least two of the three RB's. I'd like to take all three RB's, but with our numbers that may hard to do. Although, we seem to have more room for recruits lately.

Newsome is well-suited for the slot, but may have even more value as a PR

Randy Rogers says he is the best PR in state the last 2 seasons.  And the Tennessee people thought he was best PR in country.

Can you imagine if, instead of fair catching every single punt, we had a legit threat back there to take it to the house every time?

In this film, he grabs a punt around :44 second mark

He got tackled by the punter, don't want him

;)     I kid, I kid

OK, here is his 2013 film

KR at ~1:57 mark/followed by a PR.  The another at 2;50.  More if you watch it all

What this tape shows primarily is his football speed and amazing open field moves.  Some of his cuts and jukes are breathtaking

Another advantage we have is LHN

He mentioned that when he visited (same weekend as Malik)

Newsome reminds me of the great Eric Metcalf.

Appears to make good decisions, has great vision, incredible moves and speed to burn.

OK, he can play Slot, WR, RB, Wild RB, PR, KR...

Hmmmmm.... can he call plays and throw the ball with accuracy? ;)

Just a fan, presumably a Longhorn fan, suggesting that Nick Brossette should come to Texas and win a Heisman as a Longhorn.
