It started out as a great week for them with Christian Kirk.

Then it all went to hell

Bussey ^^^ named aggy his leader just two weeks ago.

Ouch

So basically to sum up aggy has guaranteed Rumlin 25 million for the next five years so they can't possibly fire him even though the program is circling the drain.
They are spending hundreds of millions of dollars expanding a stadium during a period of time when football attendance is down all over the nation and aggy has never been able to fill its stadium anyway so the program is likely going bankrupt soon.

The south endzone upper deck is scaring the hell out of anyone who sits up there by moving up and down a foot or so whenever aggy fan gets excited during a game (admittedly a rare occurrence lately) and is in serious need of some non-aggy engineering so another collapse/tragedy can be avoided.

No defensive coordinator wants to join a sinking ship full of undisciplined malcontents who joined the program due to DJs and swag, don't like to tackle, but do like to light up and get arrested.

And all their recruits are finally seeing Sumlin's gadget program for exactly what it is and abandoning ship, many of them heading instead to their hated rival.

Meanwhile Charlie Strong is over in Austin methodically building a non-gadget program based on core values, defense, NFL futures, graduation degrees, and hard work.

Am I missing anything?
The Shag's @JimmyJames has a firm handle on aggy's situation. Kudos

What a day......

I had to come check just one last time. Think what that means and where we have come from am excepting fan base in just a few days.

Maybe this STAFF deserves our patience just a little bit more than we have been allowing them. They have stuck to their principles and rested on those principles to win in the end. I have found in life they always do. We are just enjoying the fruits of their good works earlier than We expected. Not them, their hard work has put them in a position to have expected it.

THAT is what has impressed me beyond belief. They expected this. Not necessarily the specific commitments from the specific recruits but they went into this process totally sold on what Coach Strong stands for, his Core Values, the decision to rid the program of untenable Cancers, the choice to just do the things the right way etc. They were on board from the start. It was we that had been hanging by a rope while teetering over the Stern.

Thank God we weren't given the rudder.

Let's not just enjoy this but apply it. I'm old but, heck, I'd point this situation out to some young manager struggling with a team building concept or something. It applies across all landscapes. You do the right thing and it comes back to you, and it comes back to you, and it keeps coming back to you. It always does.

Sorry if this sounds a little preachy but I've really been just talking to myself, I needed to hear it. I've grabbed the rope swung on board and let the guys that know the stars, sail the ship.

Shevis-

You know as well as anyone that in life, you earn respect. You may feel you deserve to be respected, but few people ever receive the respect they truly deserve. In my mind, Charlie Strong has earned a lot of respect for how he has handled the program over the past year. He has stuck to his principles, taken a lot of crap, dealt with a lot of frustration and never wavered.

I hope the guys he is recruiting do well, graduate and go on to do well. At the end of the day, Charlie Strong has earned a lot of respect for how he has handled his first year on the job.

Yes Duke he does. So does the entire Staff. Believe me, it ain't just Charlie. Charlie and Company are a bunch of hard working sun of a guns. When I heard a few travel schedules a few of the guys had I really took pause. Yes most of it is directly recruiting related but a lot is centered around what you might call brand recognition and me just plain old good will. They're puttin in the behind the scenes work.

Now, after said that I'm beginning to tip in your favor on the rest of Belmont. I'm hoping some of the Total vision that is being discussed and negotiated (yes, that's the right word) begins to filter out sooner rather than later. We have incredible opportunities to make splash announcements that don't seem to make more than a ripple. There are huge things that UT has done and are doing. I agree with you the PR Dept might need to put some more ammo in Smokey the next time they fire the Cannon.
