This year one of a rebuild and not just any rebuild, but a complete tear down, mentally, and rebuild.
We are not a good team right now. We have some bright spots and some talent, but it is going to take a while to come together.

Last year it was Texas 3 and Baylor 3 at half time. Whoever thought we could hang with Baylor last year with Case McCoy as our QB? But alsas...in both games.... Baylor kicked our ass in the 2nd half.

this team has little to no margin for error. a block FG scoop and score and a fumbled snap from the 1 ft line can't be overcome by us this year against a good team.
Player mistakes I can take. The horrible coaching decisions I can't stand. We will never win a title with a coach that makes bonehead moves in close games. Total stupidity to try a 50+ yd FG with our kicker....Total stupidity to call time out for a QB sneak....Total stupidity to line up in a formation that shouts out WE ARE RUNNING A QB SNEAK WITH OUR PISS POOR OL !!!!...Why not spread them out and run the sneak ????..............Fall for a fake punt...Special teams coach is terrible........Swoopes is horrible...You have to try one of our walk-ons if you don't want to burn Heard's RS. You can't keep rolling this kid out there.

I don't think I've ever seen two consecutive posts on this board filled with as much nonsense since I've been here. These comments are ridiculous.
I get that you don't like losing, neither do I, but you two take the cake for jumping the shark. This is a rebuilding process, and as such will take a long time. There is no coach in this country that could take what we have and make it better overnight. Injuries, suspensions, little depth in the program are all contribtors to the state we are in.
To say that the ST coach 'fell for the fake punt' is crazy. We had a return on, (which many had been bitching about the last three weeks,) and the LBs didn't stay home in contain. Last time I checked, the ST coach was not out there in pads and lined up in contain.
Why not spread out the OL? Let's see, they have not shown that they can open running lanes consistently in normal formation. What makes you think that they could open up a hole with a box stacked with 8 or 9 on a short yardage goal line play?
Yeah, let's put a walk-on QB in, or even Heard for that matter, right now, either against #7 Baylor or #4 ou next week. That makes a lot of sense.
Swoopes was not supposed to be our starter this year. It was supposed to be Ash. You can thank Mack for leaving the cupboard bare in the QB department-and that goes back many years.
And monarch, I've come to the conclusion that you just like to see your thoughts in print-regardless of whether or not they make sense. I have tried to be tolerant of your nonsense, but you, "kind sir," are off your damned rocker.

We held Baylor's prolific offense to 0 points in the 1st half. Let me say that again....0 points. Our defense is just waiting for our special teams, our o-coordinator, and our offense to catch up. It's not gonna happen next week but it will happen. For those that are ready to sit the only QB that gives us a chance to win, then you should probably hit the golf course and start that Christmas shopping because this is going to take some time. Anyone that expected us not to struggle after the losses/suspensions we have had this year should stop watching sports altogether, these sports teams will NEVER live up to your totally unrealistic expectations.

Rebuilding and coaching decisions are two different animals.
When you put your punt return on the field the LAST words out of your mouth should be ," Watch for the FAKE !!!"
They can't stack that box if you spread them out.
WE TOLD THEM WHAT WE WERE RUNNING BY OUR FORMATION AND PERSONNEL !!! ..That was stupid !!! We even called timeout to allow them to put their big uglies in the game to stop said QB sneak.
I kinda remember a guy named Darrell Royal who threw a few QBs out there that were not so called "ready" ( James Street comes to mind, and there were others ) Worked out OK. I think it was Akers who had a 3rd or 4th string QB step into a big game for us out of necessity. It may have been the OU game. Even John Mackovic let James Brown start the OU game. As a head coach you have to TRY something when your QB is KILLING you.
Like we are the only team that lost their starting QB....The staff had to know Ash was doomed to go down early. You get Heard and Swoopes ready !!! You have to be prepared for that. Strong knew our QB situation when he signed that $5 million contract. He should have killed himself finding a JUCO or transfer to come in and fill the void.

I agree that Swoopes isn't ready for prime time yet. He's been a count slow on his reads and passes, but what's the alternative? Coach Watson doesn't think Heard is ready and we'd prefer to redshirt him. Why risk compromising Heard's development for a lost season?

Swoopes is what we have. Everything he does is a step slow, like he has to stop and think about it before he does it. He is just not an instinctive quarterback. I think he is trying hard to do it right, perhaps too hard. But we need to wait until Heard is ready. So we just deal with it.
Our offensive line is improving every week. Wickline is doing a great job. But it is going to take time.
The defense has been outstanding early, but has tailed off later in the games. We need a little more depth to deal with the up tempo offenses. It is going to take time.
One thing we can do now is be better with special teams. Everything else is going to take time.
We are all just going to have to be patient.

No doubt.
I haven't been impressed with our special teams at all this season. Is Coach Vaughn in over his head? We need to find a better kicker, too.
