The thing that annoys me about the SEC

A&M is 11-6 in the SEC. Let's look at their wins and losses

So the teams A&M beat are 69-61 overall. That number is distorted also because A&M had one upset over Alabama who gave them 13 wins. In other words, A&M has essentially been beating teams on average that are .500 teams. A&M is 2-5 against the better SEC teams in LSU, Auburn, Alabama, and Florida (one of those wins came against a 3-9 Auburn team too). I believe the SEC has elite top tier teams but the idea that the SEC is deeper than other conferences is simply a myth. Aggy has been living off beating 2nd and 3rd tier teams that on average are hovering around a .500 record.

Why does this bother you?  I honestly couldn't care less.  It's mainly hype, and until another conference gets hyped up and/or starts knocking the SEC opponents off, it is what it is.

The SEC is to the rest of the FBS what the FBS is to the FCS.  Even a mid tier FBS school is generally better than a top FCS school.  At least that's what the SEC and ESPN wants you to believe.  And honestly, I'm not so sure that there isn't some truth to that.  But it's far less than what ESPN and SEC homers would have you believe.

I think he's more or less insinuating the same thing as you. Conference boasting is pointless. It's not the SEC who needs to get "knocked off" it's Bama, LSU and Auburn. Because realistically speaking, the schools that are the mouthiest with their SEC chants are Texas A&M, Ole Miss and Kentucky who have yet to achieve and/or rightfully receive any form of "National Recognition" as of late. The annoyance lies in the fact that the SEC is a "highly touted" conference due to it supposedly being "the strongest" conference, when in all actuality its simply home to three of the tougher collegiate teams. 

I don't get annoyed whatsoever when I hear LSU, Bama or Auburn chant SEC. Although admittedly, I hear them chant it far less than other schools. I just find it incredibly ignorant and arrogant when I hear the teams that are scraping the bottom of the SEC barrel, who have achieved nothing, chanting their conference name as if the successes of LSU, Bama and Auburn are the successes of the previously unidentified university(ies).

That's true. The only reason I care to a certain degree is I do believe conference perception has an impact on recruiting.

give the devil their due. they figured this shit out. schedule 4 tomato cans, don't play all the toughest opponents in the league and you end up with 6 10-win teams and 2 or 3 more with 9.

whether they're the best or not, THAT many teams with THAT many wins looks the best.

 They could very well be 0-3 after this game. 
SMU is 0-2. SMU lost by 37 to North Texas.  

Lamar. A FCS school.  

Louisiana Monroe is 2-1, but were blown out by the only decent team they've played. 

That's just a pathetic nonconference schedule. Wow just wow.

 There are few things I could agree with you more on... But you are applying actual logic to your thought. The rest of the country does not.

 Those schools chant it less because they benefit the most from that SEC bias! Hahaha... I have argued that with my buddies that are SEC fans of schools that are not Bama UF or LSU. They have the rest of the SEC doing recruiting for them! NOBODY hears SEC and thinks Miss St, or Ole Miss, or Mizzou, or Vandy. People hear SEC and Bama UF and LSU immediately come to mind. The rest are just fillers.

Its the sorry E$PN talking heads who keep slobbering over the conference because of the $$$$$ connection the cable channel and the conference have...They have to sell their product, thus keep brainwashing the public that the SEC is the almighty conference. Their top team happening to win the MNC several times helps their cause.
