FLACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ash out for BYU

I guess Catalon is also a possibility

Did they give an update on him at the presser?

Charlie is not worried about it. As long as the defense stays healthy we will be fine. We have Darius James, who was an all state center, Raulerson, and Cuney who can play. Swoopes and Heard are in a similar spot as Bridgewater was at Louisville. Like Strong said, the game plan will not put the game on Swoopes' shoulders. He just needs to manage the game and let the other 21 players help win the game. If Case McCoy can lead us to a win against OU, Swoopes should be able to handle the BYU game.

I sincerely hope Ash is okay. As much as he wants to keep playing it might just be time to hang em up.

Mr. Swoops your table is ready.

Clearly a heavy dose of Brown/Gray, which we were going to see anyways.

Swoopes does have a big arm, so the playfake can work if the run game is working.

Swoopes also opens up interesting possibilities with his bootleg abilities, combined with the big arm.  This is the exciting part to me.  So the question becomes, will Watson scheme it?

There was already pressure on the defense.  Now even more.

If we can't contain Hill better than we did last time, the starter at QB won't matter anyways.

And the bigger question floating in the air though is -- is it time for David to give it up?
The OLine is going to have to get a helluva better push than they did against UNT... I wasn't very impressed with our ability(inability) to open up running lanes. We have two of the best backs in the country and we need to give them a better chance.

Its def time for Ash to hang it up...

I saw the hit, thought it was really borderline, and saw his head hit the turf.  It wasn't a smasher, but it was noticeable.  I even said, "CRAP" out loud and was told it wasn't significant.  Evidently, it was significant enough.

Hoping he has a 48 hour virus!

Hook 'em!

I don't think Cuney is an option this season unless we're desperate.  He's undersized and needs more time in the weight room. He's gotta put on lbs.

I'm more worried about our O-Line depth right now than QB, to be honest.

I think it is prudent to take the position that Ash should consider hanging them up.  I say this as a concerned Longhorn fan and as a medical professional.

I think, now, that Strong must now insert the QB option as a legit play for the foreseeable future - both with Swoopes and Heard.

We now have two kids that must do some SERIOUS growing up and it is not fair to either.

This leads me to question Shannon Kelly and the other college players, on here, about how formidable you think this will be?  Shannon, as an ex QB, you should know above all people.  Your thoughts?

Mykkele Thompson played QB in high school.  It may be time to give him some reps in practice.

This was inevitable, but Coach Strong did Ash no favors by keeping the kid in until the very end. I can't believe he was allowed to compete again this season?

I love the fire to play, Ash has, but if this truly i concussion related it may be time to remove the decision from him. There is only so much the head can take.

I'm in Bellmont - there's a quick story at the top of the board. Lots of player quotes added on the press conference thread.

I'll answer questions about Ash & the BYU game HERE.

I've always questioned why Dodds got to be an abject failure his first 15 years on the job,

but old highest paid coach and assistants makes one wonder

what the hell did he do but pad his bank account the last 5 years?

QB depth. Absurd.

Recruiting say DB's in a deep class last year?

OL development.

Hiring Diaz is so ludicrous it's beyond funny.

No players drafted since Roosevelt?

But we're the richest. Feel better?

Dodds and Brown could not have left Texas in a worse position if they were trying to deliberately do it.

There's no Ricky staying or joining a new conference to save Charlie his first year.
