Jeffcoat and Mike Davis were both recently waived by their NFL squads. Hopkins is also injured and might be cut now. I'm thankful for what Mack brought to this program but it was his time to go.

I can understand Davis and Hopkins, but Jeffcoat I thought would last a little longer.

I don't have high hopes for Jeffcoat. All in all Jeffcoat only had one good year at Texas due to injuries. IMO Jeffcoat's one good year was in part because of Reed and Brown on the D-Line. Reed received a lot of doubles last year. I think Shiro Davis will have a very good year this year much like Jeffcoat because of the attention Reed receives.

No doubt Mackdaddy ruined a bunch of potential in players who committed to The University.  I'm shocked Jeffcoat didn't make it on talent but he sure had no positive developmental support since high school.

I watched Strong's presser today, Horns kick off Saturday, it's time to put Mack in the rear view mirror like Lubbock in some song and look forward to TEXAS FOOTBALL.  It's gonna get good soon!

Hook 'Em!

It all starts in the weight room. If a player gets little or no supervision at least not the supervision they are receiving now, then they won't push themselves as hard. There are some players like Gray and Diggs who are hard workers, but even they need pushing.

That's why Coach Strong works out with the players. You work harder with the boss around and like he says they can't complain when they see him pushing himself. Working in the weight room is drudgery, but it shows up on the football field. It's a shame Jeffcoat and Davis had a lot of talent when they came to UT.

I know players are working hard now every time I see this picture.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Jeffcoat get a chance with the Cowboys. Given their need for DL depth and his father's tenure in Dallas, they may just take a chance on him. Even if it would be on the practice squad for a while.

I will say this about Mack, he had some bad luck. The Colt injury and 08 were unlucky as hell. 1 title really isn't indicative of how good we were for a big stretch of time. I personally think we would have won the Bama game with a healthy Colt and we deserved a shot at the title game in 08. Still 3 BCS wins and a title is nothing to feel ashamed about if you are Mack.

We were one play away from titles in '01, 02, '06 and '08

In '02 and '08, that one play puts us in the Natty game. . .

Mack was better than most realized. . . .

He had flaws, so does every coach.

Hard to go out on top. . . . not unlike watching Johnny U in a bolts jersey of Joe Willie as a Ram .. .

Hung around too long. . .

Agree, but it's our lack of Big 12 titles that really bugs me.  Only two in 16 years with our talent?  Yeah, OU was very good too, but we should've gotten at least 4.

I'm not ashamed of Mack's tenure at UT, but I am tired of talking about it.  Let's turn the page.  #TexasStrong
