Now this won't be popular with some of our posters but thanks to BondLoungeHorn for the find (another of the EF Hutton posters. . .for you kids. . .When EF talks. . .people listen)

"CCS is a great talent evaluator. If he is going after some relatively unknown guy, other coaches had better pay attention. If he tells a player that he needs to make a position change, that kid is a fool if he doesn't listen. I don't think CCS is nearly as good at evaluating coaching talent as he is at judging football talent. Maybe he learned from his experience here, but he has no room for error there."

very well stated.. indeed.  it certainly seems that the good citizens of louisville, really thoroughly enjoyed the successful tenure as per coach strong.  as the old saying goes.. "your reputation proceeds you".  i am so very pleased that this coach is upon the 40 acres.

Interesting observations.

The coaching eval comment makes sense when you view the two together...if I trust my ability to evaluate playing talent, then I'm going to care much more about how a guy coaches that talent than what he coaches them.

Choosing a staff on "how vs what" (picking coaches based on their teaching style/method instead of their X&O Implementation) is a very fine detail that will sail way over the heads of 99% of people.

NO!!!  All the lawns belongs to me!!!  Get off ALL my lawns!!!

Er ... please mow them first, OK?

#1 - Is your first name actually Chuck?

#2 - Aren't his coaches basically the ones he had at Louisville (the winning program)?  With the exception of Wickline?

#3 - I have heard the same as you about his evaluation abilities.  I consider this a good thing.  I mean a VERY good thing.

#4 - Now, IMO, the game that will either haunt or vaunt Charlie Brown?  North Texas State.  We better look like the Seattle Seahawks playing Pearland High School or the anti-Strong contingent will be in full roar - and I'm including that old reprobate in SA.

And even if we DO look like Seattle, there will still be some dumba**es that will find fault with either the team, Strong or both.

doc,

Why?  Mack lost to North Carolina State years ago in a special teams disaster.

I don't think we will come close to losing to UNT, but I am asking if Mack got preferential treatment?

Hook 'em!

My lawn is turf.  Patterson is qualified to mow that for me, yes?

not doc, but i'd answer your question 1) the nc state disaster wasn't year one, 2) mack had an instant honeymoon because he was following mackovic's 4-7 team featuring Rout 66 and he persuaded Ricky to stay for a senior season.

Yes, echeese dates back to a birthday party my g/f at the time had for her son at Chuck E Cheese while I was in flight school. . .my fellow pilots had more fun than the kids .. . . . . .call sign stuck. . . my first division lead (I lead 2 sections of helos) we used Swiss and Cheddar instead of colors. . .

Chambers stayed, Rumph came from Bama in a trade for Bo Davis and a draft pick to be named later and Tommy Robinson came from USC

Looking forward to seeing this change the face of TEXAS football

After years of dealing with posters who's confirmation bias was so strong. . .nothing that happened on the field mattered. . .i am conviniced the same dumbasses grinding the axes of their agenda will do the same regardless of reality and what actually transpires. . .I will do what I always do. . . offer my opinion based on what I see on the field. . . . .some will like it. . .others will hate it but the view from the Cheap Seats is what it is. . . .kinda like Paul Harvey.  . .now for the rest of the story .. .

This is a trait of almost every message board out there, from fishing to hot chicks to BBQ to football.  I suppose it can be partially attributed to human nature, but there is no doubt it can be found anywhere on the internet.

Hmmm...confirmation bias? IMHO, pretty much every poster on here (and other boards) has some level of confirmation bias, including myself. There are just some posters who won't look in the mirror and admit it but sure don't mind telling others that they have confirmation bias.

Well I guess my comment hit a bit too close to home for some. . . .

Of course we all have some level of bias, I guess I was too obtuse with my comments. . .which were intended to mock those who's bias is so strong, it blinds them to reality . .. those that are incapable of forming opinions on their own or of critical thinking. . .

:P

"how could you be so obtuse .. . . is it deliberate?"   (classic scene in a great movie)
