Some team notes from OTF

French is fast. Straight line speed is impressive.

RB James Simon is putting on some good weight. The weights are doing him good.

Nick Brooks has impressed the staff a lot. He's turning heads.

Vasek is still in a sling.

Baxter still healing from knee injury. Not expected to see action until May or so.

Bo Barnes showed up at 244 lbs. They want to get him lighter.

Manning, Owens and Lacy are holding throwing sessions through the week each week.

The times and the game has changed. I'm probably the only one in this board who may think this, but I think the season, number of games, is too long. In my opinion, going from 11 games, including a bowl game, to 16-17 games is a lot on a student athlete. We all have read about how the college athletes were taken advantage of in reference to earning abilities. NIL came along. Whether we agree with NIL or not, it's here. I think we can agree it is far from perfect, but it is here in the spirit of helping the college athletes. Then, gradually and with the addition of college playoff format, the season has lengthen. Before I started to rodeo to put my way through college, I worked 35-40 hours per week and carry 12-15 hours (accounting). That was tough! So from personal experience, asking a college football athlete to go to class, pass with great grades, training, do charity, public appearances, practice and play games seems to be asking a lot. Now the discussion is expanding playoff format. From a fan, it's great to see. From empathizing with young student's time and expectations, it appears to be asking a lot. But, there is all of those $$$$. I know I'm probably in the minority on this topic, but this board is good place we can agree to disagree without taking things personal. Ok, I vented. LOL. Hook 'Em!
I absolutely hate the idea of no Spring game. It was the one highlight in the desert of the offseason.
Expanding the playoffs will not add any games to the season it will still be 17. There just won't be any byes.

Add that Daylan McCutcheon is the best route runner in newbies and J Terry has gained weight since he came in light.

My point was there was a time when college teams played 11 games, including a bowl game. Now they are playing 16-17 games. That is a long season for anyone. Even the NFL teams have a bye week for a 17 game season. Of course, that doesn't include playoffs, but I think you see my point.

The Texas softball team drops their first game of the season to #20 Stanford 9-5 in Tucson.

Congratulations to both men and women swim and diving teams for winning SEC conference titles!!!! Looks like i gotta buy more conference titles t-shirt
Perhaps more appropriate for the directors cup thread but I'll include this here.

Texas will likely be a run away winner for this award for the foreseeable future. No one else in the conference is as consistently good across the board as Texas.
