After a disappointing loss to No. 23 Ole Miss in Oxford earlier this week, Texas Basketball (14-7, 3-5 SEC) faces another road challenge on Saturday in Baton Rouge. The Longhorns and LSU Tigers (12-8, 1-6 SEC) will meet for the 33rd time, the first in Pete Maravich Assembly Center since 1998. LSU leads the all-time series 20-12, but Texas took the last meeting 96-85 in 2023.

As February gets underway, wins are critically important for Rodney Terry’s team who sits as a “last four in” in Joe Lunardi’s most recent release of Bracketology. LSU has lost three straight and looks to get back on the winning side with a win over Texas.

True freshman Tre Johnson, who received SEC Freshman of the Week honors on Monday, leads the Texas offense and the SEC in scoring with 19.0 points per game. He scored 22 points in the Longhorns’ narrow loss to Ole Miss on Wednesday.

LSU’s Cam Carter led the Tigers in scoring in their midweek loss to Auburn with 24 points.

How to Watch, Listen to the Texas versus LSU Game

Texas versus LSU will be televised on the SEC Network and will be called by Mike Morgan (play-by-play) and Mark Wise (analyst).

The Longhorn Radio Network will carry the game with Craig Way (play-by-play) and Eddie Oran (analyst) calling the action.

Tip will take place at 5:00pm CST inside Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Is LSU that bad or are we playing that good?

Texas leads 83-54 with about 5 mins left in the game.

I still don’t have a good feel for this team. Are they as good as they played for most of today? Maybe they have been figuring it out and playing better as a team. Hope this is the trajectory they’re on.

Last 6 games, 4-2. All 6 games were quad 1 games.

At home against Arkansas next week is one of only 4 quad 2 games remaining. At South Carolina, Home UGA and OU the others. Win those and thats 8 SEC wins which definitely gets you to the tourney.

We have 5 quad 1 game remaining. Most winnable being at Arkansas. Going 2-3 in those would be a plus.

IDK, the Razorbacks looked pretty good tonight. Not easy to beat Kentucky in Rupp Arena.

Went out with friends last night so I recorded the game and watched it this morning.

This may have been the Horn's best game overall, definitely their best half (2nd half). As a team, they shot 56.3% from the field (68.6% in the 2nd), 47.6% from 3 land (54.5% in the 2nd) and were 7 of 9 from the charity stripe. They had 1 player below .500% from the field (0-1) and 2 below from 3s (1-3 & 0-1). 7 TO's total, with 1 being where they dribbled the time out with less than 10 secs left. Won the boards battle 35 to 23. We had 4 players in double digits and 1 with 9. Hard to beat a team that is putting up those stats!

Johnson had a great game. What was even more impressive to me was his assists. He had some nice passes to open teammates.

The more I watch Devon Pryor, the more I like this young man. He's making it hard to keep him off the court with his total game.

Is LSU a good team? Not the best however this was a big win on the road and those are always nice to get.

There are days where it seems like you're trying to shoot the ball through the tip of a straw and others where it seems the goal is as big as a hula-hoop. For the Horns, today it was a hula-hoop. 🤘

Team certainly seems to be playing better basketball over their last 5 or 6 games.
