With the margin for error being slim for Rodney Terry and the Texas Men’s Basketball (15-8, 4-6) team, they hope to leave Nashville with a win on Saturday against Vanderbilt (16-6, 4-5). After winning three of their last four SEC matchups, the team suffered a letdown in a home loss to Arkansas at Moody Center in a midweek matchup against the Hogs.
Saturday’s contest, which takes place inside Memorial Gymnasium on Vanderbilt’s campus, marks the first between the Longhorns and Commodores there since the 1988-1989 season. The Commodores have lost back-to-back games, but have won three-straight games at home and are 11-1 at home this season. They will enjoy a true home-court advantage and are considered a bubble team in need of four SEC wins down the stretch to make the NCAA Tournament according to ESPN’s Joe Lunardi.
Texas will likely play this game thin in personnel. Per the pregame availability report, guards Chendall Weaver Tramon Mark will not play. Questionable players include forwards Kadin Shedrick and Devon Pryor.
True Freshman Tre Johnson continues to pace the Longhorns and the SEC in scoring with 19.2 points per game, while forward Arthur Kaluma recorded his sixth double-double of the season in the loss to Arkansas with 12 points and 13 points in the loss to Arkansas.
